The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) in South Asia actively engage in the Scouts and Guides movement as part of their mission to foster holistic education, character formation, and leadership among young people. Rooted in Don Bosco’s Preventive System, this involvement emphasizes values such as honesty, teamwork, discipline, and self-reliance, while also promoting the "3-H" approach—Health, Harmony, and Holiness—through activities like camping, skill training, and community service. These experiences encourage youth to grow into responsible citizens who are self-oriented, other-oriented, and divine-oriented, blending personal development with social responsibility and spiritual growth.

At the same time, scouting serves as a powerful tool for outreach, especially to marginalized youth, offering them opportunities for empowerment, skill acquisition, and faith-based enrichment. Through initiatives like BOSCOREE and other youth ministry programs, the Salesians create a fun, educational, and spiritual environment where young people can thrive. By combining practical skills, service, and spiritual guidance, the movement nurtures holistic development, helping youth to build strong character, deepen their faith, and contribute meaningfully to society.
