The Executive Director and Director General of the United Nations Association for Development and Peace, Dr Dominic F Dixon, awarded The SIGA Polytechnic College, Chennai, for Contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals. The contributions have been to the two goals of the UN; No Poverty and Quality Education.

In a post-Covid outreach programme to connect with the local community, Radio Salesian journalists reached one of the far-flung tea gardens in Mirik Sub-Division, Murmah Tea Estate. Radio Salesian RJ team Wang, Garima, Bandana and Pratap with Senior RJs Moses, Rejina and Programme Co-ordinator RJ Samir visited Murmah Tea Estate on March 5, 2022.

The Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF), the world`s first Global Salesian film festival, was conducted on the premises of the Salesian headquarters of the Province of Chennai by the Don Bosco Institute of Communication Arts (DBICA) and Don Bosco Arts and Science College on December 11, 2021. Although the festival was scheduled for mid-November, the unexpected heavy rains in Chennai postponed the event to December with the same glory as planned earlier. Veteran film editor and National Film Award winner, B. Lenin, presided over the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest and Father Amirthraj Arokiam, SDB, writer, editor and publisher, as the guest of honour.

To raise awareness among youngsters and children on the consequences of drug abuse and digital addiction, BREADS (Bangalore Rural Education And Development Society), the development office of the Salesian Province of Bangalore, launched the DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring) project on November 20, 2021, at Don Bosco Vaduthala, the Valdocco of Bangalore Province. The DREAM Project was inaugurated and launched by Nelson, Joint Excise Commissioner of Crime Branch, Ernakulam. FatherJose Koyickal, Provincial, Bangalore Province, released the logo.

``If it was not for Father U P Sebastian and Father Mathew George, and the kindness of Madam Petra, the miracle of the restoration of my eyesight would never have happened,`` said Darshan Oraon, a 21-year-old youngster after the eye surgery. Darshan hailing from Oodlabari tea gardens in North Bengal had to undergo surgery for his eye for an injury of 33 months old. His insatiable desire to learn to ride a motorbike ended in a tragedy when a speeding motorbike hit him from behind, throwing him off the road and causing severe injury to his face and eye on that ill-fated day in December 2018.

A collaborative research study conducted by Salesian College Siliguri and Salesian University Bolivia on education in pandemic times and published in the Scopus platform has featured on the World Health Organisation website. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.

Shaji Sebastian are the two Judges from India presently judging the 6th Annual Raytheon Technologies Invention Convention US Nationals concluded on May 28, 2021. The Convention is powered by The Henry Ford Competition, with more than 400 finalists from across the United States showcasing their inventions.

Yercaud, India (INT): The two prestigious and people centred organizations: Shevaroyhills Tribal Development Institute (STDi) a wing of SPS INDIA FOUNDATION, The Retreat - Don Bosco, Yercaud and Jugend Eine Welt (JEW) inaugurated their Project CALLS 2.0 (COVID19 Alternative Livelihood and Living Services). This is their second intervention during the time of COVID19 to give alternative livelihood for the tribals of Yercaud. The project will train 80 persons in nursery plant growing and generate income with a stipend of standard daily wage during the training.

SILIGURI, 31 January 2021: A tea garden catholic community saw the largest ever gathering of priests, religious and faithful for a religious celebration, when a pastor`s jubilee was organized in the tea garden village of Sarsawatipur in Jalpaiguri district. The celebration was held to mark the silver jubilee of Father Subir Mondol`s religious vows.

Naresh Kujur - Vice Provincial, and Fr. Biju Abraham - Provincial Economer.

Darjeeling: Salesian College Sonada/Siliguri was among ten Christian colleges around the world selected for a study on Digital Policy framing in post covid world, 26 October 2020. New York based ``United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia`` Office which has some 600 affiliate colleges and universities facilitated the study.

On 10th October, 2020, the Salesian Province of New Delhi inaugurated the new Don Bosco Centre at Maharajpur Nagar in Kanpur, the commercial capital of Uttar Pradesh. The centre will facilitate training of poor boys and girls and organize activities such as Personality Building, Social & Self Awareness programmes, Critical & Creative Thinking, Skill Development, Group Building, Basic Health Care and Psycho Social support.

Don Bosco institutions at Warangal and Ravulapalem, with assistance from Bosco Seva Kendra [BSK] are reaching put to the people who have been severely affected due to the rains, especially in Warangal District, which includes Hanumankonda, Kazipet and Warangal towns. The Salesian communities which have been in existence for the past 25 years in Warangal and East Godavari districts, are engaged in the relief work for 1000 flood victims and their families.
