The Thasildar Sonai Karuppaiya, Kulathur Taluk, on International Women’s Day at Don Bosco Youth Village Susaipudayanpatti, Keeranur, called on women to channel the inherent energy every individual has within. He said that society transforms into a better place for everyone when women turn their energy into a synergy.

On Sunday, 23 October 2022, during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Don Bosco, Lonavla, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, presented a citation to Mrs Sonali Shelke, in recognition for her social outreach among the poorest of the poor. Mrs Shelke has been on Don Bosco’s outreach staff since 2009. She resides at Bhaje village near Karla, 90 kilometers from Mumbai.

The International Women`s Day celebrations at Veeralur, Tamil Nadu, focused on natural farming and care for mother earth among 1000 women from 27 villages. The programme organized by Don Bosco Village Integral Animation (VIA) began with Kummi and Kolattam dances.

The Self-Help Groups (SHG) celebrated Women`s Day at Don Bosco Youth Village Keeranur, Tiruchy. The Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr Inigo Irudayaraj of Tiruchirappalli East Constituency, presided over the function and addressed the gathering on the government schemes for women and encouraged them to avail themselves the same.

The Salesians and Missionaries of Charity Sisters from Boys Town Gangarampur, West Bengal, distributed relief materials at Sundarbans some 75 km from Diamond Harbour on November 8, 2021. The materials consist of rice, dal, oil, blankets and medicines given to 90 families.

Trinity Saioo of Jaintia Hills Meghalaya was conferred India`s fourth-highest civilian honour, Padma Shri, by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, at a glittering function in New Delhi on November 9, 2021. The award comes her way for promoting the best variety of the Indian spice - the `Lakadong Chyrmit` turmeric.

Fishermen Community Development Program (FCDP) of the Salesian Province of Bangalore has marked the beginning of yet another phase of its creative community involvement with the inauguration and the first phase of its distribution of electric autos to women on August 4, 2021, in Kollam, Kerala. FCDP is a voluntary organization founded in 1979, under the guidance and leadership of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Bangalore Province, for the integral development of all fisherfolk living in the coastal area of Kollam (Quilon).

AIDA Dimapur and SBI Sanjeevani, a Mobile Medical Van which was launched on July 1, has visited nine villages and provided free check-up and medicine from July 12 - 24.

Sonada: A group of ten Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in the hills have come together to fight COVID-19 with a 15-week Wellbeing Campaign. Their slogans include: `Bring Back the Smiles,` and `We Build Each Other`.

Don Bosco Navjeevan, Chandigarh, has been working for the migrant communities of Chandigarh for the last five years and has made various interventions to enhance the lives of the migrants living in the slums and colonies. The centre runs the Intervenes Drug Users project, Street Children project, Self Help Groups for women empowerment, remedial classes for school dropouts and coaching classes for economically backward children.

Sonada, 21 February 2021: In a first time effort in the hills, academia-industry partnership initiative to empower tea garden women was launched on 21 February 2021. Salesian College Sonada established in 1938 and the Tea Promoters India who own plantations in Darjeeling, Dooars, Assam and Kerala have launched a pilot project entitled: Women Empowerment in Tea Communities Workshop, to be spread out on five Sundays from 21 February to 21 March 2021.

Yercaud, India (INT): The two prestigious and people centred organizations: Shevaroyhills Tribal Development Institute (STDi) a wing of SPS INDIA FOUNDATION, The Retreat - Don Bosco, Yercaud and Jugend Eine Welt (JEW) inaugurated their Project CALLS 2.0 (COVID19 Alternative Livelihood and Living Services). This is their second intervention during the time of COVID19 to give alternative livelihood for the tribals of Yercaud. The project will train 80 persons in nursery plant growing and generate income with a stipend of standard daily wage during the training.

Darjeeling, 18 October 2020: Radio Salesian 90.8 FM will start broadcasting one hour radio program in Lepcha language from Saturday 24 October 2020. The program is prepared by three Lepcha radio journalists who have just undergone one month of intense training with Radio Salesian.
