Father George Quadros, Salesian of the Province of Panjim, was honoured with a Memento of Appreciation on World Elders Day in recognition of his sincere and dedicated service to the people of Goa in agriculture on October 1. The Government of Goa, Directorate of Social Welfare, in collaboration with All Goa Senior Citizen Federation and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, through the Honourable Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Goa, Shri Subhash Phal Dessai and MLA Margao Constituency, Shri Digambar Kamat, honoured Father George Quadros.

The devastating COVID-19 gobal pandemic triggered off a humanitarian criss of unprecedented proportions across the globe. It was more severe in India, where people migrate in search of jobs and livelihood almsot on a daily basis. These were left stranded, distressed and desolate in the wake of the COVID-19. In this deplorable scenario, the Chennai Salesians [INM], through theier Province Planning and Development Office [PDO], conceived of a novel idea to sustain these vulnerable stranded.

Sadiya: Karsang Takar, the empowerment centre for school dropouts, concluded its trainings for its 12th batch of 20 students on 1 Dec. 2013, at Santipur, Sadiya, with the staging of a social drama ``Joutuk``. It was a farewell moment during which they imparted also valuable lessons to the public on the evils of dowry system.

(ANS - Berlin) - The Grohe-Jal-Academy (Jal for Water) at Don Bosco in Mumbai-Kurla/India has been training young people as plumbers and specialists in water management since 2009. This has been made possible by the exemplary cooperation of the German sanitary company Grohe and the Don Bosco Mondo organization in Bonn.

The Acts of the 2nd Seminar on Planning and Development Offices held in Hyderabad from November 06-10, 2011 has been published by the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid, Spain. The seminar in which 90 people from 35 provinces, of 62 countries participated, had analysed the current situation in the context of `mission ad gentes` and had discussed the road-map for the future.
