A Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Compliance and Strategy workshop on March 1st in Nitika Don Bosco drew over 80 hopeful fund seekers from Kolkata and districts. The program organised by Bosconet India in collaboration with Don Bosco Development Office of Kolkata Salesians was patronised by both men and women members of the Conference of Religious India.

The Regional Councillor for the Salesians of South Asia, Father Biju Michael SDB, unveiled the statue of Don Bosco at Don Bosco Trasi, Karnataka, Panjim Province. He was on a visit to facilitate the consultation for the new Provincial. 18 Salesians from the six houses of Karnataka took part in the consultation process.

Salesian News Asia Pacific, which started as a podcast during the first wave of Covid-19 on May 24, 2020, has launched its first YouTube version on September 19, 2021, marking its 70th uninterrupted episode.

The Covid-19 pandemic lockdown has made the poor in Delhi struggle for food. Nutritious and decent meals are a distant reality for them. Often those admitted in the hospitals and the bystanders go hungry. Meals on wheels by BOSCO Delhi is a respite for these ordinary people who have gone cashless.

Besides the unstinting service of India`s medical professionals and other frontline warriors in the fight against the deadly virus, the networks of friends, family and colleagues mobilized to share resources and combat misinformation have contributed to mitigating the situation. Social media and messaging apps also have facilitated this process, allowing relative strangers to lend a hand. Following this cue, the social media groups and networks established by the Alumni Association of Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, proved invaluable to its members and others.

Don Bosco Navjeevan, Chandigarh, has been working for the migrant communities of Chandigarh for the last five years and has made various interventions to enhance the lives of the migrants living in the slums and colonies. The centre runs the Intervenes Drug Users project, Street Children project, Self Help Groups for women empowerment, remedial classes for school dropouts and coaching classes for economically backward children.

``When a student turns into a healer during a pandemic, the equation of life changes. Dr Varun Khullar begins his morning by feeding the needy. He is on call 24x7 for emergencies. I saw the values of our patron saint, Don Bosco, in his lifestyle and felt so proud and so safe. He taught an old English teacher that life is only about serving,`` writes Uma Nair, an English teacher at Don Bosco School, Alaknanda - New Delhi, about her student Varun Khullar. Dr Varun, MD, completed his studies at Don Bosco School, Alaknanda, in 2006. With the second wave of Covid-19 sweeping across Delhi, Dr Varun supplies food, free medicines, and oxygen concentrators for the needy and underprivileged through his NGO `Chhoti Chhoti Khushiyan` (Little, Little Happiness).

Two days of South Asia Economers` Meet took place in Don Bosco Provincial House, Okhla, New Delhi, on 22nd and 23rd February, 2021. Fr. Biju Michael, Regional Councillor of South Asia, Fr. Davis Maniparamben, Provincial of New Delhi Province and eleven Provincial Economers participated in the meeting hosted by Delhi Province and co-ordinated by Fr. Amaladoss Samson, Co-ordinator of Economers` Forum South Asia.

On 10th January, 2021 Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew, the Provincial of Salesian Province of New Delhi blessed and inaugurated the new Don Bosco School building at Jamtoli - Kolebira in Jharkhand, in the presence of esteemed guests Mr. Naman Vixal Kongari - MLA Kolebira, Mr. Pratap Minj - CO, Kolebira, Mr. Gerald Ekka - Mukhiya Lachragarh, Fr. Naresh Kujur - Vice Provincial, and Fr. Biju Abraham - Provincial Economer.

9th January 2021 was a great day for Don Bosco English Medium School, Kuarmunda as it witnessed the blessing of the school building and the installation of the statue of St. John Bosco in front of the School building by Rev. Fr. Jose Mathew, Provincial of INN, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Biju Abraham, Provincial Economer and Mr. Remish Kerketta, Former MLA, who were given traditional welcome by washing of hands and showering of flower petals.

Dhajea, 8 December 2020: Out of 11 novices at Kolkata province novitiate at Dhajea in Darjeeling hills 10 novices had their decisive movement to be Salesians when 8 novices received their cassocks and 2 lay brother novices received their crosses.

Darjeeling, 26 November 2020: Two Salesian College Sonada past principals left for their eternal reward two days apart. Eleventh principal Fr Sebastian Alancheril (1980-1981) and 13th principal Fr Varghese Kalluvachel (1993-2000) passed away on 25th and 26th November 2020.

On 10th October, 2020, the Salesian Province of New Delhi inaugurated the new Don Bosco Centre at Maharajpur Nagar in Kanpur, the commercial capital of Uttar Pradesh. The centre will facilitate training of poor boys and girls and organize activities such as Personality Building, Social & Self Awareness programmes, Critical & Creative Thinking, Skill Development, Group Building, Basic Health Care and Psycho Social support.

The Don Bosco Network-BOSCONET Annual Provincial Development Office (PDO) Meet was held on 20 August 2020. The online video conference saw the participation of 11 PDO offices, alongwith BOSCONET Provincial In-charge Father Agilan Sarprasadam [INT] and BOSCONET staff. The meeting began with BOSCONET DIrector Father Noel Maddhichetty and Asst. Director Father Santhan Ubagram welcoming all the participants and inviting Father Jayaprakash-Director, Bosco Reach Out, to lead the prayer. Father Sarprasadam extended appreciation to BOSCONET for raising funds to facilitate Don Bosco India`s relief operations during the pandemic. The PDOs were lauded for carrying out COVID-19 emergency relief work on a massive scale across India.
