Students in Kerala went back to school on 1st November after a long spell of Covid-19 lockdown. Students of Don Bosco School in Puthuppally, near Kottayam in Kerala, were in for a surprise and thrilled at what they saw in school.

Salesian News Asia Pacific, which started as a podcast during the first wave of Covid-19 on May 24, 2020, has launched its first YouTube version on September 19, 2021, marking its 70th uninterrupted episode.

The DB Egmore GCC COVID Care Centre is a joint initiative of Don Bosco School Egmore, DB Past Pupil doctors, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), DBPPA Egmore, and various past pupil batches of DB Egmore. With collaboration from various sectors, the team set up a 104-bed (with oxygen concentrators) COVID Care Centre at Don Bosco School, Egmore, to supplement the ever-increasing demand for oxygen beds in the city.

The first batch of trainees in the Data Centre Operations Management Course formally graduated on April 11, 2021, at Don Bosco Skill Mission, Bangalore. Father Biju Michael, Regional Counsellor for South Asia, presided over the programme. The 23 graduates hailing from the Indian States of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala expressed great satisfaction at the training and the homely stay at Don Bosco Skill Mission.

Sonada, 30 January 2021: In a rare but challenging initiative, Salesian College Sonada floated a scheme to provide 100 girl students a laptop each at affordable price. In the first phase of distribution 55 laptops were given marking the feast of the patron of the college St John Bosco (Don Bosco), 30 January 2021. Remaining 45 laptops will be distributed soon in the second phase.

Mumbai, 9 September 2020 -- Youth workers in Mumbai have come up with on-line youth centres connecting marginalised children not only in their neighbourhood but also from Don Bosco institutions across India with no extra cost.

Some 1,000 children across India (Mumbai, Pune, UP, MP, Bihar and Jharkhand) are enrolled and counting in the e-Oratory today.

Sonada -- An educationist from the U.S. graced the 9th annual Verzotto Memorial Lecture at Salesian College Sonada (SCS), 26th October 2018. His hour long lecture was entitled: ``Reflections on Becoming Your Very Best at College Teaching.`` The session would be repeated in SCS Siliguri campus on 29th October.

Golaghat -- The Departments of Political Science and Sociology at Don Bosco College Golaghat and salesian College Sonada jointly organised a national seminar entitled Conflicts in South Asia: It`s Consequences and Implications from 16 to 17 March 2018.

Sonada -- Salesian College Sonada brothers organized the annual inter youth centre mega Bosco Utsav for young people of 20 youth centres they go to each Suday. The event was held at the well decorated SCS Campus on Sunday 4th February 2018.

Kerela, Day Two - Coming together and sharing is the best thing to happen, said the Rector Major, as he began the second day of visit in the province of Bangalore with the Holy Eucharist at Don Bosco Aluva. The Salesian Family members of Kerala region participated in the Holy Eucharist concelebrated by Father Maria Arokiam, the Regional, Father Joyce, the Provincial, Father Tom Uzhunnalil, Father Horacio Lopez, the secretary of the RM and other Salesian priests. The RM exhorted everyone to be transparent like Jesus. In an exclusive audience with the family members of Father Tom Uzhunnalil, the Rector Major thanked them for their prayerful support and concern during the agonizing days of Fr Tom with his abductors.

In South India, Chennai the capital of Tamil Nadu was affected by catastrophic flooding as the result of the heaviest rain fall. The schools are flooded, many houses are submerged in water, thousands are homeless, Schools were closed. No electricity, telephone, mobile and internet services for many days. Even train and flight services were cancelled.

On 3rd December 2015, Father Arnald Mahesh Irudhayadhason, a member of the Province of Annai Velankanni Tiruchy India, was conferred his Doctorate in Philosophy by the Catholic University of Leuven from Belgium.

The Province of Guwahati celebrated Provincial Community Day and felicitated the Jubilarians at Don Bosco College, Tura - Meghalaya on October 31, 2015. More than 70 confreres, including the Provincial Councillors and most of the animators of communities, were present on the occasion.
