Don Bosco Kavarapettai hosted the Migrant Youth Mela 2024, a vibrant gathering to celebrate and empower over 2,100 migrant youth. Organized by Don Bosco Migrant Services under the leadership of Fr. Simolin, Director of Don Bosco Migrant Services, Chennai Province, the event brought together migrants on October 13, 2024. The Mela emphasized cultural unity, skill development, and access to essential support services for the migrant community, particularly its younger members.

The Don Bosco Youth Centre, Vaduthala, Koch, hosted “Don Bosco Vaduthalotsavam 2024,” a four-day celebration marking the festival of Onam from September 13 to 16. The event, which was open to people from all walks of life, served as a platform to highlight community spirit, tradition, and Kerala’s cultural heritage, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.

Riding on the wave of the 29th edition of North Bengal’s acclaimed Bosco Fest in Siliguri Darjeeling district, the first-ever Bosco Fizza 2024 in the Dooars region of North Bengal  brought together ten schools for a day of talent explosion. The day-long program held on 24th August brought together some 1,200 students for a vibrant celebration of culture, unity, and talent, showcasing 15 cultural events.

In a joyous ceremony held on December 29 at Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, seven deacons were ordained as priests for the Salesian Province of Tiruchy. Most Rev. Dr Antony Pappusamy, the Archbishop of Madurai, presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration and conferred the ordination.

 

The 100th Marian procession, organized by Mawlai Parish in the Khasi Jaintia region, with the statue of Mary Help of Christians brought by the first missionaries in 1922, recalled the Marian procession of May 24, 1922, in Shillong, North East India.

The Season of Creation - an ecumenical movement celebrated by the World Council of Churches along with the Catholic Church was launched at the MumbaiSalesians` Novitiate-Salesian Training Institute [STI] Nashik, on 04 September 2020. The month long celebration that began with an Eucharistic adoration is to culminate on the feast day of St Francis of Assisi on 04 October.

Kerela, Day Two - Coming together and sharing is the best thing to happen, said the Rector Major, as he began the second day of visit in the province of Bangalore with the Holy Eucharist at Don Bosco Aluva. The Salesian Family members of Kerala region participated in the Holy Eucharist concelebrated by Father Maria Arokiam, the Regional, Father Joyce, the Provincial, Father Tom Uzhunnalil, Father Horacio Lopez, the secretary of the RM and other Salesian priests. The RM exhorted everyone to be transparent like Jesus. In an exclusive audience with the family members of Father Tom Uzhunnalil, the Rector Major thanked them for their prayerful support and concern during the agonizing days of Fr Tom with his abductors.

The much awaited visit of the Rector Major, Rev. Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, to the Province of Bangalore started on a high note as he landed at the Kochi International Airport at 9.40 am on November 4, 2017. A rousing welcome in the traditional way was accorded to him by the confreres of the Province. The Rector Major is on a five-day visit (November 4-8) to the Province of Bangalore.

. Chennai: The 9th International Short Film Festival of India (ISFFI),Chennai hit the screens of selected city theatres on 25-26th March 2015, unrolling a vibrant selection of short films, documentaries and animations. Out of the 1150 entries that came in for the festival from 66 countries, 66 short films from 20 countries were selected and screened during this two day festival. The Indian entries were from Karnataka, Chennai, Mumbai, Haryana, Andhara Pradesh, Kerala and Kolkata.

As a fitting to Tribute to Don Bosco in this Bicentenary Year, the legendary Kolkata Youth Fest has been revived today after a gap of nearly 30 years with over 500 young boys and girls gathering at Don Bosco Park Circus for a four day programme from 23 to 26 January.

Jorhat: The annual cultural tourism extravaganza, Ethnique, in Jorhat, Assam, came to a grand finale on 4 January, with the heart thumbing dance show by Rhythm of Dance, led by Mr. Bapi Saikia of Baghchung. Prior to the dance show was a fashion parade in both ethnic and modern outfits by the students of The Ramp Modeling Institute, put together by Mr. Pranjit Chetia. Miss Tridisha Baruah , Jorhat`s own child and one of the busiest models in the entire India, walked the ramp together with Daniel Brunen of Germany for the two-rounds fashion parade. Anchoring the parade was Miss Mausuma Farheen, a JB College student.

The fifth Edition of DBIFF (Don Bosco International Film Festival) organised by Don Bosco Image, Kochi, in collaboration with ishare programme will begin on 22 November and conclude on 23 November with the award ceremony. DBIFF brings together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and artists to discover the best in short films across the country. Over 100 short films will be screened in Full HD quality on the festival days. The contestants are basically children and youth from all over India.
