Salesian youth ministry emphasizes holistic growth, promoting physical and mental health through sports, recreation, clinics, and preventive education, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable. In neighborhoods, this ministry is expressed through social inclusion initiatives, health camps, and specialized centers that combat stigma, ensuring that the Salesian presence nurtures dignity, community well-being, and a hopeful path toward meaningful life.
For the Salesians, as Don Bosco famously stated, "I must preserve my health for the young," indicating that the health of the educator and the educated is a vital resource for the mission of the Church and society.
Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima, partnered with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, to conduct a two-day Vision Screening Programme under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. The programme benefited hundreds of students by providing early eye care intervention—an initiative to promote preventive healthcare for school-going children. The programme's team examined 423 students, identified 328 who require corrective lenses, and will provide them with free spectacles.
A coastal cleaning drive near Galilee Colony in Kollam, part of Operation Thufan – The Narco Hunt, was organised by Mukti Theeram to address environmental concerns and raise public awareness of drug trafficking and social crimes in neglected coastal areas.
In an effort to provide accessible healthcare to people living in remote tribal regions along the Gujarat–Madhya Pradesh border, a free health camp was organised at Rendha village on May 14 through the joint initiative of DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant, the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit, Kawant, and the Primary Health Centre, Navalja. The camp was held at Ayushyaman Arogya Mandir, Rendha.
In a commendable initiative that integrates education, health awareness, and community outreach, the NSS Unit and the Department of History of Don Bosco College Golaghat, affiliated to Dibrugarh University, organised a Health Checkup and Medical Camp on May 8 in observance of World Thalassemia Day. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with SPARK Foundation and NIIT Foundation and included registration for E-Shram, ABHA, and Ayushman Bharat cards, enabling community members to access essential government health and social security schemes.
