In a significant move to address migration challenges, the Baroda Diocese organized a one-day consultation on migration at the Don Bosco Church Hall, Makarpura, Vadodara, on November 19. The event brought together priests, religious sisters, NGO representatives, trade union members, and well-wishers to strengthen collaboration and advocacy for the rights and welfare of migrant communities in Gujarat.
Father Francis Bosco SDB, National Director of the Salesian Migrant Desk, addressed 49 head and village catechists at a three-day training for the Diphu diocese held at Mary Help of Christians Church, Satgaon, West Karbi Anglong, Assam. Organized by the Salesian parish on October 27, the event aimed to educate local church leaders on pressing migrant issues affecting the region. Father Albert Thyrniang, parish priest at Satgaon, presented his extensive survey of 1,596 migrant workers, shedding light on the socio-economic factors driving North East youth to seek employment in urban centers.
On October 25, 2024, a one-day orientation on the Young at Risk (YaR) and Migrant Ministry took place at the Provincial House in Dimapur, Nagaland, aimed at revitalizing these critical ministries. Resource persons Father Francis Bosco and Father Joe Prabhu from the Don Bosco National Forum for Young at Risk, Delhi, led the program, engaging 52 participants, including Rectors and In-charges from the Dimapur Province.
A meeting of priests, religious, and lay leaders of neighbouring areas in Bengtol Parish on October 19 resulted in a collaborative effort to support the region's growing migrant-worker population. The meeting, which featured a presentation by Fr. Francis Bosco SDB, National Director of Don Bosco Migrant Services of South Asia, highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive and effective support systems for these vulnerable individuals.
The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Employment's National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, ST/SC Employment Exchange, Kohima, and the Model Career Centre, Dimapur, organized a job fair at the AIDA Don Bosco Campus. The event was a resounding success, attracting nearly 400 job seekers and six recruiting partners with over 600 vacancies.
Don Bosco Job Placement Network and Don Bosco Pvt ITI, Kokar, Ranchi, organized a Job Fair for the city's youth. The event featured 12 companies offering over 1,000 job opportunities, connecting job seekers with employers, and creating valuable employment prospects for the local community.
Don Bosco Technical Commission continues to be a leading force in vocational education, producing over 30,000 skilled laborers annually—making it the largest private organization in India after the government in this field. This impressive feat is achieved through the combined efforts of Don Bosco’s formal ITIs and short-term courses offered by DB Tech. To strengthen and advance this mission, the leaders from technical centers across India gathered in Mumbai for a summit from Sept 27-30th for an intense study, reflection, and strategic planning. A total of 33 participants, including 27 ITI principals and several institutional heads, attended the event.
The second day of the National Migrant Workshop, held in Mumbai on August 17, organized by the Don Bosco for Migrants (DB4M) network partners, saw a collaborative effort with the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI), Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and other organizations. Together, they drew a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing migrant services, including shelter and basic needs, source and destination services, emergency helplines, data collection, networking and advocacy, workers' collectives, and social integration.

In the video, NDTV highlights DB Tech as a 'Change Maker' in addressing the significant gap in vocational training in India.Â
The third edition of NE-Vent (Northeast Venture), the flagship programme of The Hub Jorhat, Bosco Institute, was launched on January 24. NE-Vent3 is exclusively for women entrepreneurs. A cohort of 25 was selected for this immersive entrepreneurial journey. The entrepreneurs will receive training in business skills, develop their business and finance plan, pitching training, and have access to co-working space in the Hub Jorhat. At the end of the incubation training and pitching, the most promising entrepreneurs would receive seed funds to set up their enterprises. Mrs. Nidhi Gupta. The second batch of trainees at the Don Bosco Tech Rangajan Center, consisting of 25 youngsters hailing from Manipur, Nagaland and Assam, specializing in the Food and Beverage Service Associate job, completed their training on January 19. Originating from conflict-ridden areas like Kangpokpi and Imphal, many of these participants had previously confronted homelessness and family loss and struggled with substance abuse. With the able leadership of Brother Sunny Joseph, the Director of DB Tech Rangajan, and a dedicated batch of staff, these youth found hope through the free training initiative.
Salesian Family member Sister Seli Thomas of Sisters of Mary Immaculate won the inaugural Sisters Anti-Trafficking Awards (SATA) 2023. The nun, Sister Seli, a member of Sisters of Mary Immaculate in Krishnagar, West Bengal, received the award at a function in London on October 31, along with two other nuns from Nigeria and Thailand.
