Don Bosco Vazhikaatti Trichy, a pioneering institute in career guidance, training, and placements in the Province of Trichy, conducted a unique orientation program at Don Bosco Care Home, Nilavarapatti. The program focused specifically on supporting students in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) under the Aftercare Program.
Many young people, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, lack access to quiet spaces, updated study materials, reliable internet, professional guidance and financial support to focus on their goals and enroll in expensive coaching centres. Hence, as a support to young people preparing for government jobs and entrance tests for higher education, Don Bosco Yuvakendra, Najafgarh, Delhi, and Don Bosco Youth and Educational Services (DBYES), Bariatu, Ranchi, in collaboration with Don Bosco Job Placement Network (DBJPN) have established dedicated study centres. More than 500 aspirants will benefit from these centers.
In a significant push toward gender equality and economic empowerment, Don Bosco Vazhikaatti organized a Job Fair dedicated to women's workforce inclusion in Chennai, Tamilnadu. The event provided over 2,500 women job seekers—including fresh graduates and professionals re-entering the workforce—access to employment opportunities, with more than 50 recruiters across diverse industries providing jobs for more than 1500 women. This initiative has contributed to a more inclusive and sustainable future by fostering equal opportunities and career readiness.
The Don Bosco Job Placement Network (DB JPN), a forum for Career Guidance and Job Placement Services in the South Asia region, marked a historic moment by commemorating Don Bosco's commitment to young workers' rights through the Leadership Summit 2025 at Chennai Tamil Nadu. The event, themed 'Decent Work, Dignified Life,' celebrated 174 years since Don Bosco's First Apprenticeship Contract and 175 years since the founding of the Mutual Aid Society.
A landmark discussion on migration and urban poverty took place at the UN Building, Delhi, as part of the Voluntary National Review (VNR), aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) on February 14. The event, attended by 40 participants, included representatives from 30 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), UN officials, and officers from NITI Aayog. The event brought together an eclectic mix of stakeholders, including NGOs, trade unions, social work colleges, religious leaders, and social workers. Organized with a shared commitment to champion the welfare and rights of migrant workers, the consultation was a significant step toward establishing a coordinated approach to resolving migrant issues in the region.
Don Bosco Kalvi Solai, through its initiative ‘Butterfly Express’, proudly inaugurates the first Village School Library at Don Bosco Tamil Medium Higher Secondary School, Gedilam, Kallakurichi District, a school that caters to nearly thousand very deserving poor children from the villages around, since 1999. The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Employment's National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, ST/SC Employment Exchange, Kohima, and the Model Career Centre, Dimapur, organized a job fair at the AIDA Don Bosco Campus. The event was a resounding success, attracting nearly 400 job seekers and six recruiting partners with over 600 vacancies.
Don Bosco Job Placement Network and Don Bosco Pvt ITI, Kokar, Ranchi, organized a Job Fair for the city's youth. The event featured 12 companies offering over 1,000 job opportunities, connecting job seekers with employers, and creating valuable employment prospects for the local community.
Youth Involve (YI), an initiative of Bosco Institute Jorhat, celebrated its 10th anniversary alongside the bicentennial of Don Bosco's dream from September 17–19 at Siloam, Umiam. Twenty-six young social entrepreneurs, leading as many social projects and initiatives from Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland, and their Salesian and lay mentors and coaches came together for three days of sharing experiences and insights, and learning from successes, failures, distractions and challenges through presentations, exhibitions, conversations, reflections, and group activities. They were welcomed by Fr. George Palamattam SDB, the founder of Siloam.
The Ten-Day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) - 77, held from August 18 to August 28, at Don Bosco College, Golaghat, brought together 400 NCC cadets and 200 college students from various educational institutions across Golaghat, Jorhat, and other districts of Assam. Don Bosco College hosted the NCC camp for the first time, and participants from diverse backgrounds joined in enhancing their skills and knowledge under the guidance of experienced trainers and officers.
The Salesian Social Forum (SSF), a group of like-minded Salesians, held a two-day National Convention at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, on August 10-11. The event, titled "Contextualizing the Dream of Don Bosco: A South Asian Workshop by Salesians in India Today," brought together about 40 Salesians from various Indian provinces to explore ways to renew Don Bosco's vision for the poor.
