DON BOSCO SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, Doomdooma, Upper Assam, marked World Environment Day 2026 with a large-scale environmental awareness campaign. The event included a tree plantation drive that united 3,008 students, 94 teachers, and members of the Past Pupils Association of Doomdooma. Together, they promoted ecological responsibility.

In the rich yet underexplored biodiversity of Northeast India, a new species of fossorial reed snake has been discovered in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya. The species, named Calamaria garoensis (Garo Hills Reed Snake), has been formally described in the internationally reputed peer-reviewed journal Taprobanica.

Colosseum 2026, organised at the Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Kurla, unfolded as a well-curated two-day festival that combined entrepreneurial dialogue, technical exploration, alumni engagement, and cultural celebration. Don Bosco Tech Society has been conferred the Gold Award for Excellence in SkillTech and Career Solutions at the Economic Times TechEdu India Awards 2026, marking a significant milestone in its two-decade-long mission to empower youth through skill development. The Gold Award was presented to Fr. George Mathew, Executive Director of the Don Bosco Tech Society, who accepted the honour on behalf of the organisation. The recognition coincides with the Society’s 20-year journey in advancing skill-based education and employability among India’s youth.

The Department of Sociology and Education, Don Bosco College Golaghat, in association with its IQAC and Research Cell and the Department of Sociology, Furkating College, organized an ICSSR-sponsored national seminar titled “Indian Knowledge System and Artificial Intelligence: Future of Spiritualism through the Lens of Culture, Ethics and Education – under Viksit Bharat.” The two-day hybrid seminar, held on February 5–6, brought together scholars, educators, and practitioners to examine how artificial intelligence can align with India’s cultural and spiritual heritage to support ethical development toward a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
