News reported by: Mukhim Bivan [ING]

A three-day Scouts and Guides Training and Testing Camp concluded on Tuesday at Don Bosco Secondary School (Colzani Memorial), Damra, after training young participants in essential scouting skills, leadership and service.

Organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides – Don Bosco District Association, Assam, the camp brought together Scouts and Guides from various institutions for intensive training, practical assessments and character-building activities focused on discipline, teamwork and self-reliance.

The camp was inaugurated on July 4 by Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, SDB, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Guwahati. In his inaugural address, he encouraged the participants to embrace the true spirit of Scouting through compassion and selfless service.

"A Scout is not known merely by the uniform he or she wears, but by the willingness to serve others," he said, urging the young participants to support one another throughout the camp and extend that commitment to their families, schools and communities.

Fr. Bivan reminded the Scouts and Guides that Scouting is not confined to camps or badges, but is a lifelong way of living that forms young people with integrity, discipline and responsibility. He encouraged them to learn every skill with dedication and enthusiasm.

The three-day programme followed a disciplined schedule beginning before sunrise and ending with night prayers. Activities included physical exercises, scouting drills, practical skill sessions, quizzes, testing, patrol games, leadership exercises, campfire programmes and personal growth opportunities. Separate training and testing sessions were conducted for Pravesh and Pratham Sopan participants according to their respective syllabi.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Fr. Dennis Solomon, SDB, Don Bosco District Chief Commissioner; Fr. Nicodim Aind, SDB, Provincial Councillor and Don Bosco District Commissioner; Sr. Anita George, Superior of Nirmala School; Mr A. R. Lazar, Don Bosco District Scout Trainer; Sr. Mary Hasda, Principal of Nirmala School, Damra; Fr. Anthony Dhasdan, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco Secondary School (Colzani Memorial), Damra; and Fr.
