Father George Quadros, Salesian of the Province of Panjim, was honoured with a Memento of Appreciation on World Elders Day in recognition of his sincere and dedicated service to the people of Goa in agriculture on October 1. The Government of Goa, Directorate of Social Welfare, in collaboration with All Goa Senior Citizen Federation and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, through the Honourable Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Goa, Shri Subhash Phal Dessai and MLA Margao Constituency, Shri Digambar Kamat, honoured Father George Quadros.

The International Women`s Day celebrations at Veeralur, Tamil Nadu, focused on natural farming and care for mother earth among 1000 women from 27 villages. The programme organized by Don Bosco Village Integral Animation (VIA) began with Kummi and Kolattam dances.

The Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), an autonomous body of the Government of Goa under the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, awarded the Certificate of Recognition to Father George Quadros SDB of the Salesian Province of Panjim for his contributions in the field of biodiversity at a recently held Biodiversity Awards 2021 function at Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem, Goa.

Father George Quadros breaks his record by planting paddy saplings over 1.15 lac sq. metres. Last year, the same feat had only 56,000 sq. meters covered. Father Quadros planted the saplings in 12 hours using the machinery on July 8, 2021, in the village of Curtorim Maina in South Goa. He has initiated a revolution in agriculture in the state of Goa; The fallow land has turned into a land of a bountiful harvest.

Don Bosco College of Agriculture (DBCA), Sulcorna, has successfully produced 150 kgs. of chemical-free organic jaggery from sugarcane grown on campus using only organic manure and pesticides.

The devastating COVID-19 gobal pandemic triggered off a humanitarian criss of unprecedented proportions across the globe. It was more severe in India, where people migrate in search of jobs and livelihood almsot on a daily basis. These were left stranded, distressed and desolate in the wake of the COVID-19. In this deplorable scenario, the Chennai Salesians [INM], through theier Province Planning and Development Office [PDO], conceived of a novel idea to sustain these vulnerable stranded.

And measures to accomplish it are ongoing at every Don Bosco Institution in India and abroad. At Don Bosco Kurla, an International Conference ``Technologies for Sustainable Development`` on a significantly large scale was held from 4-6 February, 2015 befitting the 50th Anniversary of the Campus at Kurla and also the Bicentenary of the birth of its founder Don Bosco. The Conference resulted in the setting up of a research Centre for Social Development on the campus.

Jayapalan Raphael SDB at Sagayathottam, near Chennai, on 24 October, in the presence of Bishop P. Soundararaju of Vellore and a large gathering of priests, religious, well-wishers and students.

SYM (Salesian Youth Movement)- Don Bosco Youth Services organized a rural life exposure camp cum outreach trip to Walvanda, Jawahar Tehsil, Thane district for a group of youngsters from August 29-31, 2014. The aim of the camp was to experience the life of the Warli tribes living in Walvanda, acquire knowledge by interacting with them, and to have an adventurous trip at the same time.
