Most Rev. Thomas D’Souza, the Archbishop of Kolkata, presided over the Holy Eucharist with 72 chapter members.

Seven companies, namely Quess Corp, Samuel Fitze Company Pvt. Ltd, NIIT- ICICI Bank, Lifestyle International Pvt., Okay Call Centre, Teamlease and Employment Provider, recruited youth.

12 Young Men Make 1st Profession as Salesians for 03 Provinces in Darjeeling

Darjeeling, known as the producer of arguably the best quality tea in India, has produced 12 Salesians for 03 provinces under the care of Father Samuel Mondal, the Novice Master and his team. The novices made their 1st religious profession at Nazareth Bhavan, Dhajea Busty on 24 May 2020. 06 of the newly professed belong to Kolkata province [INC], 04 to Guwahati province [ING] and 03 to New Delhi province [INN].

The Vatican has appointed Indian Salesian Father Joshtrom Kureethadam SDB the coordinator of the Sector on Ecology and Creation. Father Kureethadam is to coordinate plans to materialize the visions of Laudato Si as Pope Francis has announced 24 May 2020 to 24 May 2021 as a special year of the papal encyclical.

Don Bosco Nitika`s `ASK` Answers Catechetical Queries Online

Don Bosco Nitika Catechetical Centre based at Kolkata, has initiated ASK - Answers for Seekers of the Kingdom. The talks live-streamed on YouTube Channel Kolkata Salesians is the initiative of Nitika Director Father Gilbert Choondal, as several catechetical seminars are cancelled with the COVID-19 lockdown. Father Choondal answers questions on Catholic faith raised by the viewers, after ASK Online collects questions through emails, Whatsapp and SMS. The talk show started on 01 May 2020 and is viewed by about 1000 people from across the world. Nitika Catechetical Centre plans to launch similar content in Bengali, Santhali and Hindi. Over 100 topics are discussed already at ASK Online. Father Patrick Lepcha hosts the same programme in Nepali.

Kolkata: The Indian Catechetical Association held its 24th Annual Meet at Nitika Don Bosco, from 12 to 14 February 2020, with 57 Catechism teachers from across India. Several research presentations on Education to Love: A Catechetical Perspective, were made.

Sambalpur Bishop ordains Salesian Deacon in Rourkela

Deacon Clement Lakra was ordained priest by Bishop Niranjan Sual Singh of Sambalpur on 19 January 2020 at Jalda near Rourkela in Odisha. 11 Salesians from the Salesian province of Kolkata and 06 from New Delhi were among the thousands of faithful who witnessed the sacerdotal ordination of Deacon Lakra, and a Capuchin deacon. Father Sunil Lakra was the Provincial`s delegate to present Deacon Lakra.

Book on Pope`s Catechesis on Our Father released

Kolkata: Nitika Don Bosco has published a book titled `Our Father` based on the latest teaching of Pope Francis on the Lord`s Prayer. The book authored by Father Gilbert Choondal was released by Father Nirmol Gomes SDB, the Salesian Provincial of Calcutta on July 17, 2019 at Don Bosco Provincial House in the presence of all the rectors of the province.
