Once the dust settles, reality kicks in! The aftermath of the July landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, adds untold miseries to the script. Seeing their plight, BREADS Bangalore, in collaboration with Don Bosco College Sulthan Bathery, provided basic household articles and essential commodities to over 70 survivors of the landslides that hit Mundakkai and Chooralmala on November 5 as part of # We4You.
The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Employment's National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, ST/SC Employment Exchange, Kohima, and the Model Career Centre, Dimapur, organized a job fair at the AIDA Don Bosco Campus. The event was a resounding success, attracting nearly 400 job seekers and six recruiting partners with over 600 vacancies.
The Salesian Social Forum (SSF), a group of like-minded Salesians, held a two-day National Convention at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, on August 10-11. The event, titled "Contextualizing the Dream of Don Bosco: A South Asian Workshop by Salesians in India Today," brought together about 40 Salesians from various Indian provinces to explore ways to renew Don Bosco's vision for the poor.
On 13 April seven licensed women drivers drove into the future in their own e-autos in the 7th phase of the WE Auto (Women empowerment through Electric Autos) initiative in Kollam, Kerala; joining the other trailblazers, totalling to 34 women from the local fishing community. They are literally driving change into their own lives and the lives of their communities, with the support of BREADS and its Don Bosco partner Fishermen Community Development Programme (FCDP).
The third edition of NE-Vent (Northeast Venture), the flagship programme of The Hub Jorhat, Bosco Institute, was launched on January 24. NE-Vent3 is exclusively for women entrepreneurs. A cohort of 25 was selected for this immersive entrepreneurial journey. The entrepreneurs will receive training in business skills, develop their business and finance plan, pitching training, and have access to co-working space in the Hub Jorhat. At the end of the incubation training and pitching, the most promising entrepreneurs would receive seed funds to set up their enterprises. Mrs. Nidhi Gupta. Youngsters across South Asia came together at the VOICES event, a platform that amplifies their voices on pressing social and personal issues. Throughout the event, the participants shared personal stories and insights, shedding light on the challenges of migration, unemployment, digital addiction and substance addiction affecting the youth.
Don Bosco Anbu Illam, Salem and Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, Ahmednagar, jointly organised a “Model Village Development” project on 23rd March 2023. Five villages have been selected, focusing on families of those who lost their earning members as drivers. The Cummins India Foundation (CIF), through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives (CSR), supports the project. The project aims to support the widows in those families.
International Women's Day was celebrated on March 6, 2023, at Don Bosco Youth Village Susaipudayanpatti, Tiruchy. Eight hundred Self-Help Group members of 57 groups covering 24 villages participated in the celebration. Ramon Magsaysay award winner Mr Kulandai Francis, Founder-President, IVDP Krishnagiri, presided over the function and addressed the gathering on the importance of Self-Help Groups and the opportunities for improving the per capita income of the family through SHGs.
Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Ranchi, initiated labour market information among the youth searching for jobs and organized six placement drives with job opportunities for more than four hundred youth.
Don Bosco Ranchi aims at decent jobs with safer and secure migration. Youth who are skilled, semi-skilled and un-skilled were provided job opportunities under various job profiles.
Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Kolkata, hosted its first Job Fair here at Nitika Don Bosco, Tangra. More than 160 youth registered for the event. Seven companies, namely Quess Corp, Samuel Fitze Company Pvt. Ltd, NIIT- ICICI Bank, Lifestyle International Pvt., Okay Call Centre, Teamlease and Employment Provider, recruited youth.
Don Bosco Vazhikaatti, Trichy, and Don Bosco Job Placement Network India, in association with Madurai Legal Awareness Coordination Committee (MLACC), organized a job fair for the youth belonging to marginalized communities in Madurai on June 26, 2022. Eight recruiters and 110 job seekers participated, and more than 90 issued job placement letters.
