The St. Joseph`s Socio-Cultural Organization (SSCO) at Laitkor Parish unveiled the bust of late Father Dr Sylvanus Sngi Lyngdoh, SDB, on the parish premises on November 6. Fr Sngi, a renowned Khasi priest, breathed his last on May 28, 2016. A known exorcist, missionary, author, and political and social thinker, Fr Sngi was born on January 3, 1921, in the Ri Bhoi district.

Don Bosco Media Network, Shillong, made another beaming leap by launching its Cable TV Channel on its first anniversary. DBMN started on YouTube Channel a year ago to provide hope to society and ensure factual reporting and positivity. Father Michael Makri, Director of Don Bosco Media Network, attributed the rapid development of the DBMN to God Almighty and the unstinted support of the Salesian Congregation.

Don Bosco Youth Centre, the educational-recreational hub in Shillong, has turned into a Corona Care Centre for those infected by Covid-19. The Centre became functional on May 6, 2021, under the leadership of its director Father Michael Makri, and assisted by five lay collaborators and the members of the Salesian Family, the Salesian Sisters (FMA) and the MSMHC Sisters. The Centre provides essential services to the post-Covid-19 patients who have completed the Covid-19 treatment from different hospitals.

Shillong: The SYM (Salesian Youth Movement) of the Salesian Province of St. John Paul II, Shillong crowned champion in the Basketball tournament organized by TURBA BIKE RIDERS of Ri Bhoi District. The tournament which was held in the newly constructed basketball court located at Umbuda of Nongpoh town started on the 18th January 2021, in which 16 teams from various region of Meghalaya participated.

Champhai/Shillong: Today 5th December is a red letter day in the Diocese of Aizawl Mizoram and the province of St. John Paul II, Shillong as it get its new priest in the person of Deacon Mark Thanglamtluanga SDB from Champhai village. He was ordained priest today at 11am IST by his Lordship Rt Rev Bishop Stephen Rotluanga, the Bishop of Aizawl Diocese in the presence of Father John Zosiama the Vice Provincial of Salesian Shillong Province together with few selected Salesian Priests from Mizoram region, other priests, religious, Deacon Mark`s parents and siblings and faithful following strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols from the government of Mizoram.

Shillong/Seling:Jubilee celebration of 3 Salesians was held today at Don Bosco Seling. Father Anthony Valuran celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his Ordination while Father John Zosiama (the Vice Provincial of the Province) and Father John Changsan rejoiced at the Silver Jubilee of their Profession. The Holy Mass which commenced at 11:00 am was president over by Father Anthony Valuran and was graced by the presence of Salesians from Siaha, Lawngtlai and Thenzawl and Seling. Sisters from Zemabawk, Darlawn and Seling and a few collaborators too were present.

Shillong: Recently, the Association of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco, Shillong Province, had organized an online singing competition as part of the commemoration of the 150th year of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco worldwide. The singing competition was on the theme ``Don Bosco``; there were two categories - solo and group. There were a number of participants, including from outside the province. The result of the competition was declared online by the Provincial Delegate on 16th October, 2020. The prizes were given at three different regions as it was not possible to have one common programme due to the pandemic.

Shillong: The annual Practical Trainees` Meet was held on the 6th October 2020 in DB Provincial House, Shillong. Altogether there were 13 Practical Trainees who participated at this meeting. Father John Zosiama, the Vice Provincial, welcomed the brothers who had come from different communities and some who had just finished their online University Exams in the Provincial house.

Shillong: On the 25th October 2020, Father Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, Salesian Provincial of Shillong released a book Ka Jingim jong u Blessed Carlo Acutis jong ka Milan on the life of Blessed Carlo Acutis. It was translated to Khasi from an Italian book Carlo Acutis:15 anni di amicizia con Dio which was authored by Umberto De Vanna. It was released at the premises of Mawlai Parish.

Shillong 10th October: It has been one year since the tragic demise of Archbishop Dominic Jala and Catholics across the city observed the solemn occasion by paying tribute to the late Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Shillong. A Holy Mass presided by the Archbishop of Guwahati Archbishop John Moolachira and concelebrated by five other bishops, priests, religious and few invited guests was held at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians in Laitumkhrah. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma together with other ministers also attended the Holy Mass. After the Holy Mass a short program to commemorate the day was held in which two books on the Archbishop were released. This was followed by the visit to the tomb of the Archbishop.
