The students of Don Bosco school, Mariapuram, Warangal, in Telangana district, launched a tree plantation campaign on the five acres of land chanting Grow Bosco (‘Bosco’ in Italian refers to wood/forest). The children went on the plantation drive of fruit-bearing saplings with the accompaniment of bugles and drums.
The Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, Rev. Fr Angel Fernandez Artime, interacted with the youth of the Telangana region at the Annual Youth Fest - Echoes 2023. He met the children of Navajeevan Rehabilitation Centres and DB Tech Students at Ramanthapur.
The Rector Major, Father Angel Fernandez Artime, the 10th Successor of Don Bosco, arrived at the International Hyderabad Airport on February 25 around 5.30 am to visit the Salesians and the Salesian Family members of the Salesian Province of Hyderabad. He is in the Province of Hyderabad from February 25 – 28, 2023, and continues with the Team visit from March 1– 4, 2023.
Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk (YaR) held its annual seminar and Annual General Meeting on November 30 and December 01, 2022, at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad.
The leaders of communities of Hyderabad Province with the members of the Provincial Council gathered together for an ongoing formation programme on November 14-15, 2022 at Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad. This privileged moment of formation for leaders was part of the overall formation plan of the Province in creating opportunities for all the perpetually professed members of the Province for a deeper growth in Salesian charismatic identity, commitment to the Salesian charism among the young and personal fulfilment emanating from total self-giving and self-donation.
The South Asia Formation Commission (SAFC) under the title ‘Formation of Formators’ organized a regional meeting for all the Rectors of the formation houses namely Pre-Novitiate, Novitiate, Post-Novitiate and Theologate. The South Asia Delegate for Formation, Father Robert Pen coordinated the meeting at The Provincial House, Hyderabad from November 06 to 10, 2022.
Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad, 24 April 2022: On the 30th Pearl Anniversary of the Salesian Province of St Joseph, Hyderabad, Bosco Seva Kendra (BSK), the Planning and Development of the Province, released the BOLD (Better Opportunities for Learning and Development) report which is a study and evaluation of all the communities done from August 2021 to January 2022 and it is a strategic planning process for Six years (2022-2028). It was released by Father Thathireddy Vijaya Bhaskar, sdb and Father Medabalimi Balaswamy, sdb in the presence of Father Bellamkonda Sudhakar, sdb the executive director of BSK. Through BOLD, BSK evaluated five categories, namely, 1. Schools & Colleges, 2. Technical Schools, 3. Parishes, 4. Youth Services and 5. Young at Risk.
Salesian Province of St Joseph loses yet another stalwart and a pioneer who toiled relentlessly in the Lord`s vineyard. Father Thattil Chacko, sdb, aged 81 died while being treated at Vijay Marie Hospital on 19 April 2022. He suffered from severe Parkinson’s disease for almost 20 years. He was active and effective in his ministry serving the people entrusted to his care to the best of his ability. His mission in Ravulapalem, Mariapuram and Odisha speaks volumes about his pastoral zeal for souls and for God`s greater glory.
