The XIII Provincial Chapter of the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore was declared open by Father Joyce Thonikuzhiyil SDB, the provincial of Bangalore.The chapter commenced with the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Father Provincial and the provincial councilors assisting him at the altar. The inaugural ceremony proper began at 9.00 am at Kristu Jyoti college, Bangalore.

Fr. Kongamalayil Sebastian Passes Away

Fr. Sebastian Kongamalayil, aged 68, a confrere of the Salesian Province of Bangalore left for his heavenly abode at 11.15 a.m. on 31st October 2015, at Don Bosco SSH, Aluva, Kerala. He was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and had been under medical treatment ever since.

Fr. Seby Kidangan defends his Doctoral Dissertation at UPS, Rome

Fr. Seby Kidangan successfully defended his doctoral thesis on ``The Right to Evangelization of the Christian Faithful. A Post-Conciliar Doctrinal and Juridical Study in the Light of New Evangelization``, on 16th October 2015 at UPS, Rome. Fr. Seby originally belongs to the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore (INK), but has temporarily been transferred to the Vice-province of the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS), Rome and he is part of the faculty of Canon Law.

Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia meets in Bangaluru

Don Bosco Provincial House Bangalore was privileged to host the 25th SPCSA (Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia) Council on 21-22 August, 2015. All the members of the SPCSA Council - the Regional Councillor Father Maria Arokiam Kanaga, eleven Provincials of the various provinces of India, the Superior of the Superior of the Vice Province of Sri Lanka and the Secretary of SPCSA - were present for the meeting. The Council began its two-day programme with the specially prepared Lauds at 7 am on 21st followed by the Holy Eucharist presided over by the Regional Councillor. The official inauguration was at 9 am on 21st with a prayer service. Father Joyce Francis welcomed the august gathering and Father Maria Arokiam Kanaka inaugurated the meeting with a brief inaugural message.

Maria Arokiam Kanaga, who made the extraordinary Canonical Visitation of Don Bosco Child Labour Mission (DBCLM), Davangere on 1st and 2nd September, 2013, was highly impressed by the achievements made by this unique institution during its seventeen years of existence. He is currently making the extraordinary canonical visitation of the communities of the central and north Karnataka in the Salesian Province of Bangalore.
