News reported by: Mr. Sebi Chacko (IND JPN RC)

The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Don Bosco Job Placement Network–Dimapur, in collaboration with Don Bosco College, Golaghat, organised a Career Expo and Job Fair that witnessed the participation of over 300 job seekers from across the region, offering a significant platform for employment opportunities and industry interaction.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session, marked by a prayer service led by Fr. Kamil Horo SDB, Rector of the Don Bosco Golaghat Campus, in which divine blessings were invoked for the success of the initiative.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr Fr. A. Amaladoss SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in empowering the youth of Northeast India. Emphasising the transformative potential of career-oriented programmes, he stated that the event aimed to help young people identify their strengths, connect with industry stakeholders, and build sustainable, self-reliant futures.

The chief guest, Dr Putul Saikia, former Principal of DR College and a member of the Governing Body of the Don Bosco College Society, encouraged participants to actively engage with the opportunities presented. In his address, he urged job seekers to leverage institutional support systems to enhance their economic prospects and secure a stable future.

Mr Sebi Chacko, Regional Coordinator of AIDA – Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Dimapur, provided an overview of AIDA’s interventions across the Northeast. He elaborated on the structure and process of the job fair, outlining the support mechanisms available to candidates and detailing the various recruitment stages facilitated during the event.

The job fair featured ten prominent recruiters from diverse sectors. Notable organisations included Quess Corp, Spectrum Talent Solutions Limited, Tata AIG, Barbeque Nation, GramTarang, MRF, GNRC Hospital, Flywayy, and the Indian Army, which promoted opportunities under the Agniveer scheme. While most recruiters conducted on-site, face-to-face interviews, Nalanda Institution and a few others extended their engagement through online sessions, ensuring wider accessibility.

Candidates were given the opportunity to interact directly with potential employers, resulting in over 50 candidates being shortlisted for further stages of recruitment across multiple industries. The event also underscored its commitment to inclusivity, as differently abled participants were provided with dedicated one-on-one interview sessions, enabling them to gain valuable exposure to professional recruitment practices and enhancing their employability.

The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony honouring the HR representatives from the participating organisations. During this session, recruiters shared key insights into their hiring processes, current job openings, and industry expectations, equipping candidates with practical knowledge to navigate the evolving job market.
