While enrolled in a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme, Sunil Kharghe approached a Salesian priest at Shelter Don Bosco, Wadala, after realising his true passion lay elsewhere. He wanted to leave college and focus entirely on preparing for the Mumbai Police recruitment examinations.
For years, survival—not ambition—defined Omkar Shinde's life. Orphaned as a child, burdened with supporting his younger brother, and juggling multiple jobs to stay afloat, the young man from Raigad rarely imagined a future beyond the next day's wages. Today, he is preparing to join the Mumbai Police, a change he credits not only to personal perseverance but also to the timely support he received from Shelter Don Bosco, Wadala.
At 23, Shankhar Jadhav is set to wear the Mumbai Police uniform, a symbol of service, dignity and perseverance. For the young man from rural Maharashtra, this marks not only the culmination of years of preparation but also the triumph of hope over a childhood marked by profound loss.
Don Bosco Theological Centre (DBTC), Kavarapettai, organised a seminar on the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium (Preach the Gospel) as part of the traditional Pope's Day celebration held in conjunction with the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. The 90-minute session focused on promoting mental wellbeing, emotional awareness and holistic development among young trainees.
The Salesian Province of Chennai (INM) marked its Province Feast on July 3 at Don Bosco, Perambur, in honour of St. Thomas the Apostle, patron of the Province. The celebration also marked the Province's 92nd foundation anniversary and honoured Diamond and Golden Jubilee confreres, creating a day of thanksgiving, fraternity, and renewed commitment to the Salesian mission.
Twenty-nine Social Communication Delegates from across the Salesian Mumbai Province met at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga, on July 1 for the Province's annual Social Communication Delegates' Meeting. The gathering focused on strengthening storytelling, ethical digital engagement, and collaborative media ministry.
On Wednesday, 1 July 2026, the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Fabio Attard, appointed Fr Pedro André Pinto Junior as the new director of ANS – Salesian iNfo Agency, succeeding Fr Harris Pakkam, who had held the post since June 2021.
