Don Bosco College Maram Orients 360 Freshers with Focus on Leadership and Career Readiness

Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, held a two-day Orientation-cum-Career Guidance Programme on July 14 and 15 for 360 first-year undergraduate students. The programme focused on helping students transition into college life and gain the skills and motivation needed for academic success and informed career planning.

The college programme featured a six-member resource team from Don Bosco Youth Empowerment Services (DBYES), Dimapur Province, and AIDA–Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Dimapur. Fr. Theotimus Lakra SDB, Bro. Phikow Paul SDB, Bro. Dhiraj Bhengra SDB, Mrs Clare Mahung, Mr Alan Paul, and Mr Sebi Chacko led sessions on youth development, leadership, and career guidance.

The orientation introduced students to the vision, mission, and educational philosophy of the Don Bosco system while fostering a sense of belonging within the college community. It also promoted personal growth, academic excellence, responsible citizenship, and purposeful career planning.

Over the two days, students took part in interactive sessions on self-awareness, confidence-building, team-building, communication skills, leadership development, personality assessment, and career planning. Discussions also addressed contemporary youth issues, including the impact of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, while introducing the concept of multiple intelligences and diverse career pathways.

The resource persons encouraged participants to identify their strengths, cultivate essential life skills, and prepare for the demands of an increasingly dynamic academic and professional environment. Through group activities, discussions, and motivational sessions, students were challenged to reflect on their goals and take ownership of their personal and educational development.

The programme concluded with enthusiastic participation from students across various academic disciplines. College authorities said, “This initiative gave freshers a strong foundation for their higher education journey by familiarising them with the values of Don Bosco education and preparing them for future academic and professional challenges.”

The college expressed its appreciation to the resource team for their dedicated service. It reaffirmed its commitment to organising similar programmes that promote holistic student development, leadership formation, and career readiness.
