The Don Bosco Job Placement Network (DB JPN) hosted the DB HR Summit Guwahati 2025 at Bosco Reach Out (BRO), Ulubari, bringing together employers, industry professionals, labour officials, and placement coordinators to strengthen partnerships that enhance youth employability across the Northeast and beyond.
The summit was organized by Bosco Reach Out, Guwahati, in collaboration with ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) – JPN, Dimapur, and Bosco Integrated Development Society (BIDS), Shillong. Designed as a strategic networking and knowledge-sharing platform, the event enabled stakeholders across sectors to discuss workforce trends, share best practices in recruitment, and explore sustainable talent-acquisition models tailored to regional needs.
Fr. Sebastian Ishori, SDB, Executive Director of BRO–Guwahati, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of strong industry partnerships in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for young people. He stressed that structured collaboration between employers and development institutions is vital to bridging skill gaps and ensuring inclusive growth in the Northeast.
Fr. Ignatius Gari, SDB, Associate Director of BRO–Guwahati, presented an overview of the youth development, skilling, and employment-linked initiatives implemented by Bosco Reach Out and AIDA Don Bosco. His address helped participating recruiters gain a deeper understanding of the Don Bosco mission and its extensive grassroots engagement with marginalized and aspiring youth in the region.
A key highlight of the summit was the special session led by Shri Kanpai Das, Deputy Labour Commissioner-cum-Chief Inspector of Plantations, Labour Commissioner’s Office, Guwahati, who participated as Chief Guest and Resource Person. He offered a comprehensive orientation on the New Labour Codes, covering major structural reforms, compliance requirements, gender-inclusive provisions, classification of the codes, implementation timelines, and the benefits for both employers and employees. The session, followed by an interactive question-and-answer segment, clarified practical concerns and significantly enhanced participants’ understanding of the evolving labour and compliance ecosystem.
Mr. Sebi Chacko, Regional Coordinator, AIDA–JPN, presented the Don Bosco Job Placement Network’s footprint across the three Northeast provinces, highlighting key vocational training, skilling, and employability enhancement programmes. This was followed by a live demonstration of the JPN Recruiter Portal, guiding HR representatives through registration and effective use of its recruitment features, and encouraging active interaction and feedback.
The summit also witnessed the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between DB JPN and participating employer partners, formalizing collaborative recruitment efforts. An activity roadmap for the next four months was shared, outlining planned placement drives, public job fairs, referral-based recruitment initiatives, and walk-in interviews with city-wise and state-wise implementation plans.
Held under the guidance of Fr. Ignatius Gari, SDB, the event was coordinated by Mr. Sebi Chacko and Mr. David Kujur, BRO–JPN, with overall support from Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj, SDB, Director, Don Bosco Job Placement Network. The summit concluded with a brainstorming discussion, reinforcing a shared commitment to long-term partnerships and sustainable employment opportunities for youth across the Northeast.
