The Rector Major and his Secretary Fr Horacio Lopez departed for Rome on the evening of October 04, 2015. He spent the final hours of his India trip with the Salesian family at Najafgarh where he was accorded a floral tribute.
Don Angel Fernandez Artime`s maiden visit to India has been a remarkable event of grace and manifold blessings. The Salesian Family Congress 2015 [SFC2015] at Don Bosco Liluah-Kolkata in which the Rector Major participated, interacted with and inspired the mammoth throng of 2300 participants has left an indelible impression on the minds and hearts of the religious and lay. The other visits - to the tomb of Bl. Mother Teresa and his meeting with the monks of the Ramakrishna Belur Math were the highlights of the Kolkata leg.
Following this, Don Artime proceeded to New Delhi to be with, interact and participate in the Youth Expo 2015 hosted at Don Bosco Alaknanda as a conclusion to the Don Bosco Birth Bicentenary celebrations. Young people from various Salesian settings, numbering in excess of 1500 were enthralled at the prospect of meeting with the `present Don Bosco`, taking advantage of photo-ops!
Thereafter, Don Artime proceeded onward to Ranchi, where he spent time with young people from the regions of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Orissa who impressed him with their ethnic diversity and simplicity.
Just as Don bosco had begun his work with the poorest of the poor and the most abandoned, the Rector Major spent the remaining hours of his maiden visit to India with the young-at-risk [YaR].More than a few young people & ladies crooned ``one of the most charismatic and handsome men we`ve ever encountered in our lives!`` Viva Don Bosco! Viva Rector Major Don Angel Fernandez Artime!
