The campus of Don Bosco College, Byndihati, was transformed into a sanctuary of prayer and reflection from 20th March to 22nd March, during its Annual Spiritual Retreat. Guided by the scriptural theme, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2), the event attracted 280 young people, from the college and the neighbouring villages, eager to deepen their faith. The retreat was animated by the dynamic leadership of Mr. Naveen Lobo from Mysore and the Jesus Youth team from Shillong, who together fostered an environment of high-energy worship and profound contemplation.
In a significant boost to youth employment in the North East, IndiGo, India’s largest airline, conducted a walk-in campus interview for Cabin Crew positions at the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong. The recruitment drive was organised in collaboration with Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI).
The Province of Shillong celebrated the feast of St. John Bosco with devotion and joy at Don Bosco Technical School(DBTS), Shillong, bringing together members of the Salesian Family from across the region. Students of Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, who qualified through the IndiaSkills State-Level Competition, Meghalaya, represented the state at the IndiaSkills Regional Competition 2025–26 (Northeast Zone) held from 19 to 22 January 2026 at Gauhati University, Guwahati, along with other selected students from Meghalaya. Five students from DBTS participated in the regional-level competition.
Baijalbari witnessed a moment of profound spiritual significance on January 14 with the solemn blessing of the parish church of St. John Paul II Parish by Most Rev. Bishop Lumen Monteiro CSC, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Agartala. The Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC), Mumbai—one of Asia’s largest integrated convention, hospitality, and retail destinations—successfully conducted its first campus recruitment drive in collaboration with the Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI–Shillong) and the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC). The initiative marked a significant milestone in advancing youth employment opportunities in Meghalaya.
Aitorma Ter — one of Tripura’s most cherished cultural showcases — made a spirited comeback this year after a six-year pause, reigniting pride and celebration among the state’s indigenous communities. Salesian communities across the Province of St. John Paul II, Shillong, joined the global Salesian Family in commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the First Salesian Missionary Expedition — the historic departure of Don Bosco’s first missionaries from Valdocco, Turin, to Argentina on November 11, 1875. The sesquicentennial celebration was observed with gratitude, reflection, and renewed missionary zeal across communities.
In a celebration of youth, sports, and holistic education, Shri Wailadmiki Shylla, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, inaugurated the newly constructed futsal ground and football gallery at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong. The event was attended by the Principal, Fr. Anthony Kharkongor SDB, Vice Principal, Fr. Aibor Nongsiej SDB, staff members, and a vibrant gathering of students.
Don Bosco College, Byndihati, came alive on October 31 as it hosted its grand Cultural Fest 2025 under the theme “Bridging Cultures as Digital Natives and Global Citizens.” The vibrant celebration brought together students from diverse ethnic communities, reflecting the cultural richness of Northeast India while also embracing a global, digitally aware outlook.
In a spirit of profound joy and gratitude, the Salesians of Don Bosco, Shillong Province, came together to celebrate the Silver (25 years) and Golden (50 years) Jubilees of their religious and priestly vocations. The solemn yet festive occasion was marked by thanksgiving for God’s enduring fidelity and the lifelong dedication of His servants to the Salesian mission among the young and the poor.
