The halls of Microsoft’s Gachibowli campus in Hyderabad echoed with celebration and renewed hope, as 17 young graduates of the Data Centre Operations Management programme received their course certifications. In a significant achievement, 10 of them were also awarded internship offer letters from Microsoft, carrying an annual package of approximately ₹7 lakh, marking a major milestone in Don Bosco Tech Society’s mission to equip marginalised youth with industry-relevant skills and sustainable career opportunities.

Salesian Consultancy Services, a sister concern of Don Bosco Tech Society, partnered with United Way Hyderabad to deliver a collaborative skill development programme. Designed to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s rapidly expanding data centre sector, the initiative brought together industry, academia, government, and civil society in a shared effort to bridge the nation’s skills gap.

Funded by Microsoft, the three-month intensive training programme was conducted at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad, using facilities provided by Young India Skills University (YUSU), Telangana. Don Bosco Tech delivered specialised training in data centre operations and management, while United Way Hyderabad coordinated the partnership ecosystem to ensure smooth implementation.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr. George Mathew, Executive Director of Don Bosco Tech Society, highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in transforming young lives. He noted that meaningful change becomes possible when multiple stakeholders unite around a common vision of youth empowerment and employability.

The programme achieved impressive placement outcomes for the 17 trainees who completed the course and assessments in early May; 10 secured internship opportunities with Microsoft at various data centre locations across the country. Additionally, three graduates secured placements with Surya Soft in Hyderabad, further underscoring the programme’s effectiveness in preparing youth for employment.

In addition to the course completion certificates issued by Don Bosco Tech Society, all graduates earned certifications from Enterprise Products Integration (EPI), a globally recognised authority in data centre training and certification. The internationally respected credential significantly enhances graduates' employability and professional standing.

Several participants shared how the programme boosted their confidence, technical expertise, and career aspirations. For many, it provided their first entry point into a highly specialised technology sector.

Fr. George Mathew attended the graduation ceremony; Srichandana Vinay and Imran from Microsoft; Rekha Srinivasan, CEO of United Way Hyderabad; Prof. Subbarao, Vice Chancellor of Young India Skills University; along with trainers and members of the Data Centre Academy team.

The dignitaries praised the partnership model and encouraged graduates to pursue lifelong learning. Microsoft and United Way Hyderabad also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the graduates and exploring opportunities to expand the programme while maintaining high-quality standards. This initiative offers a scalable way to address workforce shortages in emerging tech sectors. It underscores Don Bosco Tech Society’s commitment to preparing young people for careers that shape India’s digital future.
