Don Bosco Kalvi Solai, through its initiative ‘Butterfly Express’, proudly inaugurates the first Village School Library at Don Bosco Tamil Medium Higher Secondary School, Gedilam, Kallakurichi District, a school that caters to nearly thousand very deserving poor children from the villages around, since 1999. This initiative aims to foster a love for reading among rural students by providing access to quality books and learning resources.

The Salesian Province of Chennai organized a timely refresher course on spiritual direction as part of its commitment to ongoing formation. Held from September 23 to 27 at the Don Bosco Skill Mission campus in Bangalore, the program brought together 28 spiritual directors. The Don Bosco Renewal Centre (DBRC), Bangalore, facilitated the course to deepen the Salesians' understanding and practice of spiritual direction.

On September 6, Don Bosco Kalvi Solai launched the Butterfly Express: Library for Village Schools campaign to create well-resourced libraries in rural areas. The launch had prominent figures, including N. Ram of The Hindu, Dr. Jayakumar Reddy, and Mr. Joshua Madhan, supporting the cause. The initiative, symbolizing the transformative impact of reading, also featured the launch of Fr. John Alexander's book by Archbishop George Antonysamy.

Don Bosco Kalvisolai organized a dynamic two-day leadership retreat for Headmasters and Principals of Don Bosco Schools in Tamil Nadu, held on August 17-18 at Joe Beach Resorts. The retreat offered a range of interactive and activity-based sessions to enhance leadership skills and personal development in their ongoing professional journey.

UPS, Rome - The Annual Conference of the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland was held in Derry, N. Ireland, 3-7 May, in which over 100 canon lawyers participated from UK and Ireland. An Indian Canonist, Prof. Jesu Pudumai Doss, SDB, presented a paper at the five day meeting on Freedom of Enquiry & Expression of Theologians - Some Juridical Considerations. He was duly introduced by Rev. Kieran Anderson, SDB, an English Canonist from Oxford.
