The Province of Guwahati hosted the Rectors and Community Leaders Meeting at the Provincial House, Panbazar, under the theme “Passionate for Jesus Christ, Dedicated to the Young.” The gathering brought together Salesian leaders from across the Province for a day of reflection, discussion, and renewed commitment to their mission.
The first-ever public job fair in Tezpur, organized by Bosco Reach Out (BRO) – Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Guwahati, drew hundreds of eager job seekers and top recruiters to the Don Bosco Socio-Technical Institute (DBSTI) campus on Saturday.
The Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, honoured the life and legacy of the late Fr (Dr) Francis Hembrom, SDB, with the release of his book The Catechetical Ministry in Northeast India (1890–1962). The event, organized by the Social Communication Commission of the Province, was held at the Don Bosco Provincial House and brought together Salesians, clergy, religious, and friends to celebrate his contributions to catechetical ministry.
Under the theme “Walking with the Young: Lessons from the Playground to the Chapel,” the Province hosted a two-day animation and meeting for Salesian practical trainees at the Provincial House, Guwahati, from August 9 to 10. The gathering aimed to deepen the trainees’ pastoral skills, spiritual discipline, and commitment to youth ministry.
The official release of the Bodo language edition of the pictorial book on St Artemide Zatti, a celebrated Salesian saint of the sick and poor, was launched at the Salesian Provincial House, Odxel, Goa, during the ongoing Annual South Asia Formation Commission (SAFC) Meeting.

After a nearly eight-year gap, the Summer Time Youth Ministry (STYM) programme was revived with renewed vigour at Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Kharghuli. The month-long initiative, inaugurated on July 1, aims to equip clerics in theological formation with hands-on experience in youth animation before they are sent to various Salesian centres to guide and accompany young people.
A grand gathering of youthful energy, discipline, and enthusiasm marked the opening of the Mini Boscoree and Scout Master Training Camp at Don Bosco School, Barpeta Road, which is being held from June 30 to July 4, 2025. The event drew over 1,300 Scouts and Guides from several Don Bosco institutions across the Province, along with their dedicated Scoutmasters and Guide Captains.
The Assam Don Bosco University [ADBU], Azara campus, on 10 June, organized a one-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for teachers from Don Bosco Schools across the region. Held in the University’s Conference Hall, the event brought together educators committed to holistic and value-based teaching in the spirit of St. John Bosco.

Five clerics of the Salesian Province of Mary Help of Christians, Guwahati, made their Perpetual Profession during a solemn Holy Eucharist held at St. Joseph's Co-Cathedral, Panbazar, Guwahati, on Saturday, 24th May. The celebration marked a significant milestone in the lives of Cl. Lakra Yacub, Cl. Xalxo Sanjay, Cl. Langngaikhama Henry, Cl. Kullu Lebanus, and Cl. Kerketta Jeevan Chandra, as they committed forever to the Salesian way of life.
The Chairperson of the Assam Child Rights Protection Commission (ASCPCR), Dr Shyamal Prasad Saikia IPS (Rtd), highlighted the various Child Protection issues in Assam in his speech as Chief Guest at the Civil Society Leaders Meet organized by Snehalaya on April 30 at Don Bosco Campus, Guwahati. The meeting was part of Snehalaya's efforts to make Guwahati a Child-Friendly City while commemorating 25 years of Juvenile Justice services in India.
On March 4, 2025, a crucial preparatory planning meeting was held at the Provincial House in Guwahati to address the pressing source-destination challenges faced by Assam migrant workers. The meeting saw the participation of key stakeholders, including Fr. Amalraj, Secretary of NorthEast Bishops' Conference, Fr. Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim, Vice Provincial, Fr. Ignatius Gari, Fr. Francis Bosco, Sr. Shoba, Sr. Teresa, Mr. Allan Brooks, Mr. Godwin, and Mr. Abhinesh. This gathering aimed to plan for the Assam Source and Destination visit consultations on March 20-21, 2025, in Guwahati and Upper Assam.
To better equip students for the evolving job market, a one-day training programme titled 'How to Become a Career Guide' was held on January 29, at Bosco Reach Out, Guwahati. Organized by Bosco Reach Out, Career Guidance, and Job Placement Services, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Don Bosco Job Placement Network and the Forum of Salesian Career Guidance and Job Placement, the event brought together over 25 participants, including teachers, career counsellors, vocational center in-charges, and placement coordinators from Assam and Meghalaya.
A study on the migration population in the Satgaon parish in the Province of Guwahati revealed trends in the community. According to the survey, 1,596 individuals from Satgaon Parish, 932 males, and 664 females, have migrated to various parts of the country for work.
