The Tri-monthly Recollection and Animation program of Guwahati Province, held at the Provincial House, brought forty-eight young Salesians together for a time of reflection, spiritual growth, and community building.

The gathering, which aimed to deepen the commitment to their vocation, also fostered a strong sense of fraternity and collaboration. It commenced with a Hymn to the Holy Spirit, a powerful symbol of our shared faith. The Rector of the Provincial House Fr. Charles Deepen Lakra, extended a warm welcome, emphasizing the importance of recollection and our shared journey. Following his address, Fr. Jayaprakash SDB, the Economer of the Province, inspired the Young Salesians to set clear goals for their journey ahead, reinforcing our collective mission as Salesians.

The first session was led by Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, on “Salesians in Initial Formation.” Fr. Bivan elaborated on the various stages of Initial Formation, particularly emphasizing the Post-Novitiate phase, which encompasses higher education and practical training. His insights equipped the young Salesians with a clear understanding of their developmental path and the responsibilities that come with their formation.

The evening session featured a recollection talk animated by Fr. Kishor Mosahary SDB, Vice Principal of Don Bosco School, Guwahati. His discussion on consecrated life encouraged the young Salesians to reflect on their commitment to the vocation. It was followed by an opportunity for confession, allowing participants to engage in personal reflection and spiritual renewal. Simultaneously, a common Adoration animated by Bro. Sunit Ekka SDB, facilitated a deeper connection with the divine. The day concluded with the recitation of the Rosary and a goodnight talk by Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, Provincial.

On Sunday, Bro. Athanasius Kerketta SDB animated the meditation on the theme of “Servant Leadership.” Provincial Fr. Sebastian Kuricheal SDB celebrated the Holy Mass, which focused on the readings of the day. He delivered a poignant sermon on humility, urging the young Salesians to embody this virtue in their lives and apostolates, emphasizing that humility is foundational to their mission.

Fr. Cletus Pattamkulam SDB, Executive Director of Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, led a session on the Salesian Youth Movement. He encouraged young Salesians to cultivate a genuine love for the youth and emphasized the importance of nurturing the young individuals entrusted to their care. Fr. Joy Kachappilly, SDB, Rector of Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus, addressed the critical theme of the Responsible Use of Media. His insights were timely, considering the pervasive influence of media in the lives of young people today.
