Job Fair at DBC Itanagar - Arunachal Pradesh
The AIDA–Don Bosco Job Placement Network (Dimapur), in collaboration with Don Bosco College Jollang, organised a Job Fair on 18th April, at Itanagar College campus, Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative created meaningful employment opportunities for youth from diverse educational backgrounds while enabling them to explore sustainable career pathways.
The programme commenced with an inaugural session chaired by Mr. Tenzing, Placement Coordinator of Don Bosco College Itanagar. The occasion began with a prayer led by Fr. C. D. Mathai SDB, Rector DBC Jollang. Dr (Fr.) Jose George SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College Jollang, welcomed the gathering.
The Chief Guest, Shri Nyelam Nega, SP Naharlagun, lauded the initiative and described it as a landmark effort by a educational institution in the state. In his address, he emphasized the importance of a progressive shift in mindset among the youth, encouraging them to value all forms of employment equally, whether in the private or government sector, affirming that “work is worship.” He further acknowledged the significant contribution of the Salesians in Arunachal Pradesh in fostering youth development and community growth. He made special mention of the DBC college and AIDA – Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur, for bringing such a pioneering initiative to the district and the state, noting that it stands as one of the first job fairs organized by a recognized institution in the region.
Mr. Sebi Chacko, Regional Coordinator of AIDA – Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur, addressed the gathering. He highlighted the objectives of the Job Fair and elaborated on the placement services provided by AIDA across the Northeast region. He also spoke about the structured processes involved in the recruitment drive, including candidate guidance, job fair protocols, and the migrant support systems extended to placed candidates, ensuring both safety and sustainability in employment.
The Job Fair brought together a wide range of reputed companies and organizations representing sectors such as hospitality, banking, insurance, automobile, retail, and education. Notable recruiters included Barbeque Nation, SBI Life, Raysons Industrial Solution Pvt. Ltd., Nigla Group Thar Motors, Doni Polo International Hotels, R & T Group, Blinkit, and Maruti Suzuki Services, among others. In addition, opportunities were extended through online recruitment partners such as ICICI Bank (iProcess), domestic airlines, and educational institutions, thereby broadening the scope of employment avenues available to the candidates.
The event was open to candidates with qualifications ranging from 8th standard to graduates and above, ensuring inclusivity for a wide spectrum of job seekers. Both male and female candidates between the ages of 18 and 32 actively participated in the recruitment process. The salary packages offered by participating organizations ranged from ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 per month, depending on the role and qualifications.
The Job Fair witnessed an encouraging response, with over 200 candidates attending as walk-in participants. The venue buzzed with interaction as candidates engaged directly with recruiters through on-the-spot interviews, fostering a dynamic and practical recruitment environment. Out of the total participants, more than 50 candidates were shortlisted by various companies for further stages of selection, marking a positive outcome for the initiative.
