Employability Skilling Session Empowers Over 150 Students
Marking a meaningful move towards career empowerment, Don Bosco College, Golaghat, in collaboration with AIDA – Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Dimapur, hosted an Employability Skilling Session on August 5. The initiative aimed at bridging the critical gap between education and employment, especially for students from semi-urban and rural backgrounds.
Over 150 students took part in the targeted training programme, which was carefully structured to address the specific career development needs of learners at different academic levels. Organized by Don Bosco JPN, the session delivered practical guidance and hands-on skill-building to equip students for the competitive job market.
The training was led by two seasoned facilitators: Mr. Gaisanglung Kamson, Former Civil Society Mobilization Officer (SMO) of Child Friendly Dimapur (CFD), AIDA, and Mr. Sebi Chacko, Regional Coordinator, Don Bosco JPN, AIDA – Dimapur.
The students were divided based on their academic semesters to maximize relevance and engagement:
• 1st and 3rd Semester Students participated in sessions on Career Path Planning and undertook a Self-Assessment Test, helping them align their strengths and interests with future career goals.
• 5th Semester Students, preparing to enter the workforce, attended an Advanced Workshop on Job Hunting Skills, with a focus on crafting effective resumes, mastering interview techniques, and adopting strategic job search methods.
The initiative responds to a growing need for structured career guidance and employability training in regions like Golaghat, where young people often face challenges in accessing job opportunities and industry exposure. By integrating career development into academic life, Don Bosco College is fostering a culture of proactive skill-building among its students.
With programs like these, Don Bosco JPN continues to play a transformative role in empowering youth through skill development, counselling, and placement support. The partnership with Don Bosco College, Golaghat, is a testament to how academic institutions can become vital platforms for youth empowerment and employment readiness.
