Job Fair Promotes Inclusive Workforce
In a significant push toward gender equality and economic empowerment, Don Bosco Vazhikaatti organized a Job Fair dedicated to women's workforce inclusion in Chennai, Tamilnadu. The event provided over 2,500 women job seekers—including fresh graduates and professionals re-entering the workforce—access to employment opportunities, with more than 50 recruiters across diverse industries providing jobs for more than 1500 women. This initiative has contributed to a more inclusive and sustainable future by fostering equal opportunities and career readiness.
Women's participation in the workforce plays a pivotal role in driving economic and social progress. However, many women face challenges such as career breaks, skill gaps, and workplace biases. Recognizing this, Don Bosco Vazhikaatti, under the leadership of Fr. Joe Anand SDB, Director, organized the job fair in collaboration with Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Don Bosco Arts and Science College Kilpauk, St. Anne's College Chennai, Bharathi Arts and Science College for Women Chennai, Bhathavatchalam Trust College Chennai, and Annai Violet College Chennai.
With over 50 recruiters from IT, healthcare, retail, finance, education, and manufacturing, the event aimed to bridge the gap between skilled women professionals and employers actively seeking diverse talent.
The fair was an invaluable opportunity for fresh graduates and first-time job seekers to understand industry expectations and interact directly with recruiters. Many participants credited Don Bosco Vazhikaatti's training and placement services for equipping them with the necessary skills and confidence to face interviews and secure employment. Keerthana R., a graduate, shared, "As a fresher, I was nervous about job hunting. But thanks to the career guidance and training from Don Bosco Vazhikaatti, I felt prepared. This job fair connected me with recruiters, and I received multiple offers."
Similarly, Divya Suresh, another participant, expressed her gratitude, stating, "I had taken a career break after motherhood and was unsure how to restart. The support and job opportunities provided through this initiative have given me new confidence."
Employers also appreciated the initiative, highlighting the women candidates' skills, determination, and adaptability. Many companies reaffirmed their commitment to creating inclusive workplaces and hiring more women.
