A Child Rights Club named after the legendary President of India, Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was inaugurated on August 1, at Government High School, Honganuru in Chennapatna, Karnataka.
Under the auspices of CREAM II (Child Rights Education and Action Movement) programme, the staff of Don Bosco Yuva Marg in a path breaking move organized child rights awareness programme and formed a befitting club to fight against child labour and child marriages which are rampant in the notoriously famous city of Chennapatana. The members of the club promised to safeguard the rights of every child at any cost.
The Director of Don Bosco Yuva Marg, Father Sonychen Mathew SDB, in his speech elaborated on child marriages, child labour, POCSO and other Child Rights Violations and Acts. The Club members were educated on the amendments to Child Labour Bill by social activist, Mr. Kalleshappa. The Headmaster, Mr. Harish Gowda, who champions the cause of children, thanked the organization for creating awareness on Child Rights and the formation of the Club.
