Don Bosco Schools in Nagaland Unite in Spirit of Competition and Culture
Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) Dimapur came alive from 24th to 26th October, as students from across Nagaland gathered for the All Don Bosco Schools Nagaland Meet 2024. The three-day event, centered around the theme of Students for Change, showcased a dynamic blend of athletic prowess, cultural heritage, and academic excellence.
Father TP James, President of Don Bosco Schools Nagaland, set the tone by welcoming the participants to a celebration of youth talent and regional traditions. The inaugural evening featured a cultural dance competition, during which seven schools displayed the rich tapestry of Naga heritage through their performances.
"These gatherings are crucial for instilling our core values in the next generation," noted Mr. Imtikumzuk Imsong, President of Don Bosco Alumni Dimapur, during his address to the students and faculty.
The second day saw intense competitions across multiple venues. On the sports field, teams battled through knockout rounds in football and volleyball, while the school auditorium hosted a series of intellectual contests, including quiz competitions and spelling bees. The day concluded with creative expressions through solo performances and poetry recitations.
Don Bosco Higher. Secondary School Wokha clinched victory in girls' volleyball, while Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Mon emerged triumphant in boys' football. These matches drew enthusiastic support from spectators, highlighting the strong sense of spirit that permeated the event. Father Theotimus Lakra, Director of Don Bosco Youth & Educational Services (DBYES), was the special guest. He praised the participants' commitment to excellence. "What we've witnessed here goes beyond competition—it's a testament to the unity and talent within our educational community," he remarked.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony celebrating individual and team achievements, marking another successful chapter in the institution's efforts to foster collaboration and cultural pride among its network of schools in Nagaland.
