Strategic Collaboration among Economers, PDOs, and Mission Office Directors in Dimapur
A joint meeting bringing together Economers, Directors of Province Development Offices, and Directors of Mission Offices of South Asia was held from November 30 to December 3. This collaboration marked a significant step in strategic organizational planning and mission initiatives. The discussions centered around two essential documents issued by the General Councillor for Missions and the Economer General in Rome: Guidelines and Orientations for the Mission Office and Province Development Office (PDO) as Research & Development Office of the Province: Integrating Mastery & Mystery. These guidelines align mission-driven projects with innovative research and development efforts, fostering impactful and sustainable operations across the provinces.
Father Biju Michael, Regional Councillor for South Asia, emphasized prioritizing the spread of the Gospel and securing resources for mission work at the Eucharistic celebration. This was followed by the official inauguration featuring a prayer led by Father Rajeesh Devasia, the Economer of the host province, and welcoming remarks from Father Joseph Pampackal, the Provincial.
A session presented by Father Eric Mairura from the Mission Sector clarified the structure and functions of the mission office in Rome and the local mission offices in each province. Father Jose Marottiyakulam, from the Economer General's office, elaborated on the PDO's role and structure, highlighting its significance in research and development. An interactive floor discussion followed, allowing participants to engage deeply with the topics presented.
The participants discussed four critical questions aligned with the morning topics, including integrating Integral Human Development in missionary activities and the collaborative potential between PMO and PDO.
Father V M Thomas conducted sessions on Leadership in Administration designed for Economers and PDO Directors. Meanwhile, Mission Office Directors met with Father Eric to discuss their profiles further.
Father Jijo from Kolkata Province introduced new software for province management and sponsorship, which garnered interest among attendees. The meeting concluded to convene the next meeting in Nepal on November 22-23, 2025.
