The Salesian Provincial of Bangalore Province, Father Jose Thomas Koyickal sdb, blessed and laid the foundation stone for the new building at Don Bosco Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on September 20. Don Bosco Veedu (house) is a venture by the Salesians to educate and empower the deprived and the underprivileged of the society in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Don Bosco Veedu caters to the welfare of underprivileged children, youth and women and those on the periphery of society, impacting meaningful changes in their lives. The centre has eight programmes reaching out to the most deserving. The new centre will have various offices, short-term skilling, resource centre, boarding facilities, training centre and residence for the Salesians. Don Bosco Veedu is the pioneer in Childline, Kerala.
Entrusting the construction work to the heavenly patronage of Mary Help of Christians, St. John Bosco and St. Joseph, Fr Koyickal said, “Christ is the cornerstone of every activity. In Him everything is joined together”. Father Rubin Panthakkal, Director of BREADS, Bangalore, Salesians of Don Bosco Veedu, Don Bosco Movila, the staff and children of Don Bosco Nivas, the Co-operators, representatives of Sahaya Matha Parish, and the neighbours were present.
