News reported by: Fr. Blasius Tete sdb, IND
Don Bosco School, Maram, organised a one-day Teachers’ Animation Programme on July 18, bringing together 61 teachers for a series of interactive sessions aimed at enhancing their professional competence and personal growth.
The programme was facilitated by Fr Theotimus Lakra, SDB, Director of Don Bosco Youth Empowerment Services (DBYES), and focused on equipping educators with innovative teaching approaches and strengthening their role as mentors in the holistic development of students.
The first workshop on Creative and Critical Thinking encouraged teachers to adopt learner-centred methodologies that move beyond rote learning and promote curiosity, problem-solving, and independent thinking among students.
The second session, titled Building Extraordinary Educators, highlighted the importance of overcoming negativity while cultivating emotional resilience, empathy, and optimism to create a more engaging and supportive classroom environment.
Addressing the participants, Fr Lakra stressed that education extends far beyond completing the prescribed syllabus. He noted that teachers who model positive attitudes and encourage creativity empower young people to face life's challenges with integrity, confidence, and hope.
Participants described the programme as a valuable opportunity for professional renewal, appreciating the practical strategies and classroom-oriented insights shared during the sessions.
