Three-Day Leadership Meet Strengthens Salesian Mission in Delhi
The Rectors' and Leaders' Meeting of the Salesian Province was held from July 14 to 16 at the Don Bosco Specialised Training Centre, Okhla, New Delhi, bringing together rectors and provincial leaders for three days of prayer, reflection, planning and animation to strengthen the Salesian mission.
The annual gathering reviewed key areas of the province's pastoral and administrative life, with sessions focusing on vocation promotion, mission poverty eradication, youth ministry, provincial development projects, health care, data protection policy and responsible practices, as well as finance and administration. The presentations offered practical guidance and strategic direction for responding to contemporary challenges in Salesian ministry.
A highlight of the meeting was an open forum chaired by the Provincial, Fr Davis Maniparmben, during which participants discussed matters of common concern, exchanged experiences from their communities and proposed initiatives for the future growth and effective functioning of the province.
Addressing the assembly, Archbishop Anil J.T. Couto of Delhi encouraged the Salesian leaders to remain rooted in the Gospel and the Salesian charism while responding creatively to the evolving needs of young people. His message underscored faithful witness and committed pastoral service in today's social context.
The programme also featured a special session by a team of medical specialists, who offered practical guidance on preventive health care and healthy living for religious, highlighting the importance of personal well-being in sustaining effective ministry.
The three-day meeting concluded with the celebration of the New Priests' Day Mass, during which participants offered thanksgiving for the gift of priesthood and invoked God's blessings on the newly ordained priests.
The event was planned and coordinated by the Vice Provincial, Fr Vijay Soy, as part of the province's ongoing efforts to promote collaborative leadership, pastoral renewal and mission effectiveness.
