Don Bosco Tech Society, Bosch India Foundation Sign MoU to Train 3,000 Youth in Automotive Skills

Don Bosco Tech Society and Bosch India Foundation have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen automotive skill development and industry-integrated vocational education across India, as outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the Bosch South Campus in Bengaluru on July 17.
The agreement was signed by Fr. George Mathew, SDB, Executive Director of Don Bosco Tech Society, on behalf of the Don Bosco technical institutes, and Ms Sakina Baker, Head of Bosch India Foundation and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Bosch Ltd., representing the foundation. The signing took place under the Livelihoods Enhancement through Automotive Skills Development Programme (LEAP).
The three-year partnership will be implemented across Don Bosco Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Polytechnic Colleges nationwide. Announced around World Youth Skills Day, the initiative aims to train approximately 3,000 young people as two- and four-wheeler automotive technicians, enhancing their employability through industry-aligned vocational education.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives of both organisations, including Br. Jose Puthenpurackel, Fr. Eugene Florence, Br. Barnabas Khriam and Fr. Britto Francis, along with members of the Don Bosco Tech Society operations and placement team. Sixteen principals representing Don Bosco ITIs from across the country also participated in the event.
Following the signing, Empanelment Letters were presented to participating Don Bosco ITIs under the LEAP programme, formally recognising them as implementation partners in Bosch India Foundation's national vocational training initiative.
The partnership seeks to develop industry-ready automotive technicians by establishing Centres of Excellence, upgrading laboratories and technical training infrastructure, strengthening faculty competencies through industrial exposure, and integrating emerging technologies into vocational curricula. It also aims to expand apprenticeship, internship and employment opportunities for students across the Don Bosco technical education network.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. George Mathew said the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to equipping young people with industry-relevant skills while enhancing their employability through quality vocational education.
Organisers said the initiative aligns with India's National Skill Development Mission and is expected to create sustainable career pathways for youth while supporting the country's growing manufacturing and mobility sectors through a future-ready skilled workforce.
