BOSCOM South Asia Office Inaugurated in Mumbai

News reported by: BIS Correspondent

The BOSCOM South Asia Office was officially inaugurated on June 23 at Don Bosco Matunga, Mumbai, marking an important step forward in strengthening the Salesian communication apostolate across South Asia. The office was opened by Fr Fidel Orendain, General Councillor for Social Communication, accompanied by Fr Ashley Miranda, Provincial of Mumbai and Provincial in charge of Social Communication in the region. Fr Fidel also conducted the blessing of the new office.

In his message, Fr Fidel emphasised that the primary aim of communication is to build communion, nurture relationships, promote dialogue, and unite people. He urged communicators to be authentic witnesses who leverage media and technology to unite people and share hope in today’s world.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of the Mumbai Provincial Council, Rectors of the Salesian presences in the Mumbai Province, and representatives from the communication ministry.

Welcoming the gathering, Fr Bastin Nellissery, Delegate of BOSCOM South Asia, thanked Fr Fidel and Fr Ashley for their presence and support. He highlighted the establishment of the new office as a hub to animate, coordinate, and strengthen communication efforts across South Asia, and its alignment with the BOSCOM vision of “Communicating Hope, Transforming Lives.”

The South Asia Region sincerely thanks Fr Biju Michael, Regional Superior of South Asia, the Mumbai Province, for providing and preparing the office space. The region also recognises the contributions of Fr Savio Silveira and his Provincial Council, who initially offered the space for the regional office, and of Fr Ashley Miranda and his team, who expertly furnished and equipped the office to fulfil the region's communication mission.

We also recognise the vital support of several collaborators whose work made the project possible. Special thanks to Mr Barry Serrao, Mr Francis James D'Souza, and the Provincial House Community, Matunga, for their dedication and key contributions to the inauguration.
