Nineteen Novices Make First Religious Profession at Mount Don Bosco, Padivayal

News reported by: Fr Dickson Eugene SDB

Nineteen Salesian novices took a significant step in their religious journey by making their First Religious Profession during a solemn Eucharistic celebration held on 24 May 2026 at Mount Don Bosco, Padivayal. The celebration was centred on the theme, “Passion for Christ and the Young.”

The First Religious Profession marked a milestone in the lives of the young Salesians as they publicly committed themselves to the religious life. The ceremony, marked by prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving, drew members of the Salesian family, clergy, religious, and faithful who gathered to witness and support the candidates in their commitment.

Among those present were Fr. Jose Koyickal SDB, Provincial; Fr. Shalbin Kalanchery SDB, Vice Provincial; and Fr. Davis Maniparamben SDB, Provincial of the Salesian Province of New Delhi. Several priests also participated in the celebration, offering their prayers and encouragement to the newly professed Salesians.

The occasion was further enriched by the presence of Salesian Cooperators, neighbouring Salesian communities, and members of nearby religious congregations, who joined in prayerful solidarity with the young religious.

The profession ceremony highlighted the dedication of the newly professed Salesians to the mission of serving God and young people in the spirit of St. John Bosco. It was a moment of joy and gratitude for the congregation, as prayers and best wishes were offered for the professed members as they began a new chapter of faith, service, and spiritual growth.
