The Divyadaan Salesian Institute of Philosophy has achieved a landmark, sweeping top honours at the annual short film competition hosted by St. Paul’s Institute. Its student-produced short film, One Life, One Love, claimed both the Best Short Film Award and the Best Actor Award, asserting the institute’s growing prominence in the creative arts.

The winning film, created entirely by student brothers, examines the struggle and triumph of a seminarian confronting a life-defining choice. Its compelling narrative resonated strongly with judges and stood out among a field of high-calibre entries from other institutions.

The coveted Best Short Film Award came with a cash prize of ₹50,000. Director Br. Praveen was commended for his clear artistic vision and mastery of production management. The judges praised the film’s coherent storyline, professional cinematography, and refined technical execution, describing it as a work of “rare maturity at this level of competition.” The victory was hailed as a powerful affirmation of Divyadaan’s collaborative filmmaking efforts, successfully translating philosophical thought into a relatable, emotionally engaging cinematic experience.

Adding to the institute’s accolades, Br Alsharon’s performance earned him the Best Actor Award and a prize of ₹10,000. His portrayal was noted for its authenticity and emotional depth, anchoring the film’s thematic intensity and leaving a lasting impression on viewers. The recognition underscores the institute’s ability to nurture individual artistic talent while fostering collective creative projects.

The St. Paul’s Institute competition is widely regarded as a benchmark for youth-driven filmmaking. Divyadaan’s sweep of both major awards — institutional and individual — sends a clear message about the strength and holistic quality of its arts programme. The institute’s students have shown that intellectual formation and spiritual discipline can coexist with technical creativity and artistic innovation.

Special appreciation was extended to Fr. Jayaseelan Savariarpitchai for his overall guidance on production. For the Divyadaan community, the film’s success is more than a trophy — it marks a new chapter in excellence. It serves as inspiration for future generations to explore media as a powerful medium of communication and social reflection.
