Sacred Heart College Inaugurates Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Tirupattur, inaugurated its Platinum Jubilee celebrations on September 8, marking 75 years of excellence in education and service (1951–2026). The day unfolded with devotion, pride, and festivity as the college community gathered to celebrate its rich legacy and future vision.
The celebrations began with a Solemn Holy Mass in the Kamarajar Arangam, presided over by Fr. Dr. Don Bosco Lourdusamy, SDB, Chairman, together with former Principals Fr. Antonyraj SDB, Fr. Maria Soosai SDB, and Fr. C.M. Varghese SDB. Several Salesian priests concelebrated the Eucharist. The formal inauguration featured the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, a prayer song, and a welcome dance performed by students of Don Bosco School of Excellence.
In his welcome address, Fr. Dr. Praveen Peter, Rector and Secretary, expressed gratitude to the Salesians, faculty, alumni, and students who have shaped the institution’s growth. A video presentation, prepared by Mr. A. Maria Micheal Nithyn and Dr. A. John Martin, traced the college’s journey of academic distinction and social commitment.
Distinguished alumni and guests shared their reflections. Dr. C. Thirugnana Sambandham, a 1989 alumnus and Deputy Project Director at the Aeronautical Development Agency, Bengaluru, recalled how Sacred Heart laid the foundation for his career. Former faculty member Dr. V. Rajendran spoke about the institution’s academic and social progress; meanwhile, Fr. Dr. Antonyraj SDB, a former Principal and Rector, and Fr. Joanes SDB, an alumnus, offered reflections on their experiences.
Delivering the Platinum Jubilee Address, Principal Fr. Dr. D. Maria Antonyraj SDB outlined the college’s vision for the future and activities planned for the Jubilee year, emphasizing holistic education and social responsibility. The year was officially inaugurated by Rector and Secretary Fr. Dr. Praveen Peter.
Cultural programmes by students and a medley by the College Choir added vibrancy to the event. The celebration concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Vice-Principal Fr. Daniel Ambrose SDB and the singing of the College Anthem.
The Platinum Jubilee stood as a reaffirmation of Sacred Heart College’s mission: “Empowering Minds and Transforming Lives.”
