Kitkupar Nongsiej, the winner of the Ka Sur Kynud Season-3 singing competition organized by Don Bosco Media Network, the Social Communication Department of the Salesian Province of Shillong, will represent India at the 28th Annual WCOPA event. The competition, which will be held from July 17 to 25, 2025, in Long Beach, California, will feature contestants from 70 countries.

Confirming the selection of Kitkupar Nongsiej via email, Scott Murphy, the Vice President of WCOPA, wrote: “This year, WCOPA will celebrate its 28th year in the performing arts industry. Contestants from over 70 countries will compete for over $700,000 in scholarships, awards, medals, and cash prizes. The competition is fierce, and it’s an even playing field—no one receives special treatment. Everyone is equal and has the same opportunity. Every entertainer who wins truly wins on their merit and performance. After reviewing your online audition, you are officially qualified and can represent your country, India, at the 28th Annual WCOPA event.”

Overjoyed by his selection, Kitkupar met Father Michael Makri, SDB, the Managing Director of Don Bosco Media Network and Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre, to thank him for guiding him and inspiring him to reach the international level and vowed to bring laurels to India and Don Bosco Media Network, Shillong Province.

Don Bosco Media Network (DBMNtv) organizes an annual singing competition called ‘Ka Sur Kynud’ to provide a platform for the youth of Meghalaya to showcase their singing talents. By registering for this competition, youth receive two months of free vocal training from professional coaches. The winner is then sent to international competitions. In the first season (2023), the winner, eleven-year-old Chevinia Lyngdoh Mawnai, participated in Vocal Star in the UK and won the title. In the second season (2024), Ellery D. Kharkongor auditioned for ‘The Voice US,’ but due to visa issues, she was unable to participate. In this third season (2025), Kitkupar is hopeful to win the competition and bring home the title.
