FEEDING CHILDREN IN BRICK KILNS

On 20 March 2021, twenty-four Salesian Co-operators of Holy Child Auxilium, Vasant Vihar - New Delhi, organized a social outreach programme at Jhajjar for children working in brick kilns where Salesians are involved in working for them.
The Holy Child Auxilium, Vasant Vihar Co-operators, with Victor Nazareth, Co-ordinator, and the guidance of Sr Maria Pettayil, FMA Delegate, collected funds and reached out with food for 200 children of the brick kilns of Jhajjar in Haryana on 20 March 2021. ``The Salesian community at Jhajjar, under the guidance of Fr Joy Marangattikala, are doing a magnificent job for the children of the workers in the brick kilns. My visit to the brick kilns and the sight of children being taught in the open fields with no roof over their heads moved me a lot,`` said Victor. He was impressed by the Salesians and the dedicated staff in providing education and help to the poor children. The Salesian Co-operators provided a sumptuous meal which included vegetable pulao, sambhar, mixed vegetables, eggs, papad, salad, fruits and sweets to the children. There was enough food for the evening as well. The Salesian Co-operators returned home feeling blessed, understanding the value of caring and sharing. It was not just feeding the children with food, but with love and kindness.
