The Rector Major Don Angel Fernandez Artime left Kolkata for New Delhi this morning. Arriving post-noon, he blessed and inaugurated the Don Bosco House, SPCI at Dwarka.
The grand finale of the Salesian Family Congress saw the early departure of the Provincials of South Asia and other Salesians and lay. Some journeyed for the YOUTH EXPO that is underway from 29-30 September 2015 at Don Bosco School Alakananda. The Rector Major accompanied by Fr Maria Arokiam Kanaga and Fr Horacio Lopez instead arrived at the SPCI house, where the welcome committee was ready to receive him.
A traditional Indian welcome with arati and garlands was followed by the introductory words of Fr Noel, South Asia Delegate for the Salesian Family, Secretary of the SPCSA & Rector of the SPCI community. The Rector Major then cut the ribbon & unveiled the plaque alongwith Fr Kanaga. Fr Artime, Fr Kanaga and Fr Jose Mathew, Provincial of New Delhi unveiled the sacred images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco. The lighting of the lamp and a short prayer service ended with the blessing of the house.
The Rector Major made an impromptu speech before the blessing saying ``I see before me a good representation of the Salesian Family with youngsters, laity, religious, priests, nuns and children. The young people are at the centre of our mission. I have heard it said that this house is considered to be the house of the Salesian Family. That is our mission, to live together, to do together in love for and with the youth in service of the Lord.`` Then he imparted the blessing after which a short felicitation ceremony ensued, with the Don Bosco ASHALAYAM children presenting an Italian hymn to Don Bosco. A sumptuous meal added more joy and cheer to the rejoicing gathering of 85 persons, not counting the support staff.
