Don Bosco College Itanagar Launches FESTORAMA 2026 Celebrating Cultural Diversity
News reported by: Fr. Blasius Tete sdb, IND
Don Bosco College, Itanagar, inaugurated FESTORAMA 2026 with a vibrant gala opening ceremony on October 31. The event brought together culture, creativity, and youthful enthusiasm under the theme “Many Cultures, One Campus.” The week-long festival will culminate on November 7, when six houses compete for the championship.
Shri Nabam Tuki, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, graced the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest. He addressed the students, encouraging them to embrace education, leadership, and cultural identity. He also highlighted the constructive role of young people in shaping society. Smt. Kholi Purnima, Gram Panchayat Chairperson of Jollang, attended as Guest of Honour.
Jollang Panchayat members, Salesian Fathers and Sisters from neighbouring institutions across the Capital Region, faculty members, and students attended the ceremony.
A major attraction of the opening celebrations was Food Fest 2026. It transformed the college campus into a vibrant traditional food village. The six participating houses built intricately designed bamboo huts and traditional structures, showcasing Arunachal Pradesh's architectural traditions and indigenous heritage.
Each house presented a distinctive cultural and culinary experience, combining traditional cuisine, creativity, and teamwork. The initiative allowed students to reconnect with their cultural roots, preserve traditional knowledge, and share their heritage with the wider college community.
The festival’s theme, “Many Cultures, One Campus,” reflects Arunachal Pradesh's cultural diversity. It also underscores the importance of fraternity, mutual respect, and unity among students from different communities and backgrounds.
The college expressed appreciation to the house leaders, faculty coordinators, students, and all those who contributed to the successful inauguration.
More than an annual celebration, FESTORAMA 2026 embodies the Salesian spirit of joy, participation, and community living. It offers a platform to celebrate cultural identities, strengthen friendships, and make diversity a source of unity.
