Don Bosco Leads Community Tree Plantation Drive in Tribal Village

DISHA Don Bosco Kawant organised a community tree plantation drive at Goddha village on July 17, reinforcing its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable living in the tribal region.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Goddha Yuva Vikas Manch, brought together village leaders, youth, and residents to promote the protection of nature, which remains central to the livelihoods and cultural heritage of the local tribal community.
The programme was held in the presence of village Sarpanch Mr Kunvarsinghbhai Rathwa, former Sarpanch Mr Sundarbhai Rathwa, members of the Gram Panchayat, Fr Dr Mayank Parmar, Director of DISHA Don Bosco Kawant, Programme Officer Mr Hasmukh Christian, DISHA staff, and a large number of villagers.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Parmar stressed the importance of conserving the environment, particularly in tribal areas where forests and natural resources sustain everyday life. He urged villagers to take collective responsibility for nurturing the newly planted saplings, noting that such initiatives promote ecological balance while fostering environmental awareness among young people.
Programme Officer Mr Hasmukh Christian highlighted the long-term benefits of tree plantation, including improved air quality, soil conservation, and greater resilience to climate change. He encouraged the community to adopt environmentally responsible practices and continue similar initiatives in the future.
Village leaders appreciated the efforts of DISHA Don Bosco Kawant and pledged their support in protecting and maintaining the saplings. They also commended the Goddha Yuva Vikas Manch for mobilising youth participation and strengthening community awareness on environmental issues.
The programme concluded with the planting of saplings at selected locations across the village, reflecting a collective commitment to preserving the environment and promoting sustainable development through community action.
