ITANAGAR, July 12:
Salesian Youth Camp Strengthens Faith and Leadership Among Arunachal Youth
News reported by: Fr. Blasius Tete sdb, IND
A two-day youth camp organised by the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Tigdo, Yupia, brought together 64 young men and women from the local Catholic community on July 11–12 to deepen faith and nurture Christian leadership.
Held under the theme "Rooted in Faith, Growing in Grace," the camp was led by Salesian priests Fr Sunny Minj, Fr C.D. Mathai, and Fr C.C. Jose, with the support of youth leaders Techi Anung, Gollo Yadap, and Nabam Philip.
The programme was structured around three key themes—Rooted in Faith, Growing in Grace, and Walk with Christ—and featured catechetical sessions, leadership formation, interactive discussions, prayer, and personal testimonies. The organisers said the initiative sought to strengthen the participants' spiritual foundations while encouraging them to be active witnesses of Christ in their families, parishes, and society.
The camp also gave participants time to step away from their daily routines for prayer, reflection, and personal renewal. Sessions focused on recognising God's grace in everyday life while cultivating values of compassion, integrity, service, and hope.
Addressing the gathering, participant Bijnoo Nabam shared how Salesian youth animation had positively shaped his life, describing it as an experience that "added great value" and made a lasting impact. He encouraged fellow participants to use their talents for the greater glory of God.
At the conclusion of the camp, many participants expressed renewed confidence in living out Christian values and a stronger commitment to serving both the Church and society.
The organisers highlighted that the initiative reflected a collaborative effort between Salesian mentors, youth leaders, and parents to form responsible young leaders. By combining spiritual formation with leadership training, the programme sought to reinforce family values while helping young people contribute positively to their communities.
