Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited Don Bosco Senior Secondary School in Panbazar on June 8. He urged students and staff to strive for excellence through education, discipline, and service.

The school auditorium hosted the visit as part of a special programme connected with “Amar Swaheed Shraddhanjali,” a tribute to the nation’s martyrs. The event united distinguished guests, military personnel, educators, and students, creating a meaningful occasion that blended patriotism with educational inspiration.

Addressing the Bosconian community, Governor Acharya emphasised that education is the foundation of nation-building and called on students to become leaders and serve society. Calling schools “temples of learning,” he urged students to pursue ambitious dreams and work diligently to achieve them.

“I am indeed happy to be in your midst. School is a temple of learning. Many of you shall one day become doctors, lawyers, engineers, bureaucrats, scientists, journalists, and authors. You will serve society in various capacities,” the Governor said. He also commended the school leadership and faculty for nurturing values and character among students.

The Governor stressed the need for academic excellence, moral integrity, patriotism, and service to the common good. His message resonated as students listened intently and responded with enthusiasm.

Welcoming the Governor, Fr. Alex Kattakayam, SDB, Principal of Don Bosco School, Panbazar, described the occasion as a landmark moment for the institution.

“It is indeed a red-letter day for all of us here at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, with the visit of His Excellency, the Hon’ble Governor of Assam. A visit by the Constitutional Head of the State to any educational institution is a matter of pride for both students and teachers,” Fr. Kattakayam said. He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s words of encouragement.

The visit gave students a rare opportunity to engage with one of the state’s highest constitutional authorities. The Governor highlighted discipline, dedication, patriotism, and moral values, reinforcing Don Bosco's educational philosophy. This meaningful interaction made a lasting impact on the school community.
