Don Bosco Jumaikela Celebrates Perpetual Profession of Three Salesian Clerics

News reported by: Fr. Norbert Xalxo sdb

Don Bosco Jumaikela witnessed a significant spiritual milestone on May 17, 2026, as three Salesian clerics made their Perpetual Profession of Vows during a solemn celebration attended by around 35 priests and more than 600 faithful.

The sacred ceremony marked the lifelong commitment of the clerics, who professed the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience before Fr. Davis, the Provincial, who received the vows on behalf of the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

The Eucharistic celebration began with a culturally rich liturgy rooted in the traditions of the Chotanagpur tribal community. Women in ceremonial attire led the entrance procession with graceful traditional dance, while local men accompanied them with rhythmic drumbeats. The integration of tribal cultural expressions into the liturgy reflected the harmonious blending of Christian faith and local heritage.

In his homily, Fr. Davis urged the newly professed clerics to remain close to the poor and dedicate themselves to the service of young people in the spirit of St. John Bosco. He also encouraged them to look to Mary as their guide in their lifelong vocation.

Following the Mass, the newly professed were honoured by their families and the Jumaikela community with shawls, garlands, congratulatory messages, and cultural performances presented by children and youth. In an emotional moment of thanksgiving, each brother expressed gratitude to God, their parents, and the Salesian formators who had accompanied them throughout their years of formation.
